Apple’s iPhone 5 is now available in select countries around the world but it has not been released in Netherlands. So a team from iPhone5.nl who got their hands on the device a week early in the Netherlands thought it would be hilarious to play a prank with the first iPhone 5 on the busiest street in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
The pranksters wanted to catch people’s high jinks when they stumble upon a new iPhone in the middle of Leidseplein, a busy square in Amsterdam with one the busiest foot traffic in the city. After securing the phone to the pavement using Super Glue, they set up a hidden camera to capture people’s perplexed reactions as they tried to pick up the phone.
Sure enough, the iPhone 5 caught the eye of nearly every passer-by. Most of them attempted to pick up the phone, before realizing that it was glued to the ground. Some made multiple attempts to grab the phone. They either ran off red-faced and giggling, or got frustrated and attempted to kick the handset free but to no vail.
The YouTube video of the prank has gone viral, garnering more than 1 million views since it was uploaded on September 21. Have a good laugh!
