My Profile
Once upon a time, a baby boy was born two days after Christmas in a very small town called Animal in the British colony of Sarawak. I am not joking…the name of the town that I was born in was called Binatang which is the Malay word for animal. The town’s name was later changed to its present name of Bintangor.
I can still recall some bits and pieces from my young childhood days….the British troops bathing naked in the river near my home, the rides to the town on my dad’s one-of-its-kind tricycle ( how I wish I have a photo to show here!), playing hide-and-seek around town with other childhood friends, swimming in the Rejang River, watching 50-cent movie, having a 50-cent haircut ( the tool used by the barber reminds me of a mini-grasscutter and I always looked like I was reporting to the army after each haircut ), eating 30-cent kolomee……and a cone of ice cream cost only 5 cents! Those were really carefree childhood times.
I can recall 3 incidents from my secondary school years at Kai Chung Middle School in Bintangor. One was being publicly caned by the school principal in front of all the students and teachers during a morning assembly for carrying a fellow classmate on my bicycle. Another was being given a subtle warning by my English teacher for writing an article in the Borneo Bulletin on a school disciplinary action against some students. The third was receiving an anonymous letter from someone trying to recruit me to join the communist movement ( it was a scary experience for me then ).
I left my birthplace to do my Form Six at the Tunku Bujang College in Miri. That was the first time I left home and stayed in boarding school. It was a good experience and some of my best friends today are my school mates from that college.
I left Malaysia for Canada to pursue my Bachelor of Commerce. Those years in Canada were so memorable and I am always seized by nostalgia at the thought of Canada. Canada is such a beautiful country. Despite the extreme temperatures ( which can drop to minus 30 degrees Celcius ) in winter in Montreal, I enjoyed winter months when I used to go to Mount Royal for ice-skating. Montreal is a lovely French city . It is such a pity that I have lost contact with almost all my friends at Concordia University….friends like Richard Tse ( formerly from Mauritius), William Foo ( from Singapore), Nguyen ( a Vietnamese woman), Mai ( another Vietnamese woman), Lan ( yet another Vietnamese woman), Ibrahim ( from Sabah ) and a lot of others whose names I cannot remember now.
I am happily married with my lovely wife Jennie and 2 great sons Clarence and Leslie. My wife has been my strongest supporter and the pillar of my life. She has stood with me through thick and thin and I am so blessed to have her in my life. Clarence is now attached to an international audit firm. Leslie is now attached to a veryreputable local audit firm im Miri . It has been such a pleasure watching them both grow up into young adults. Is it a coincidence that both of them are in accounting like their dad?
Since my graduation as an accountancy graduate from Canada over 30 years ago I have had varied working experience in audit firms, trading companies and investment holding companies. I got out of the rat race at the end of January 2008 to pursue a work-from-home lifestyle. My last employment was as an accounts manager for a well-established group of companies in Brunei.I was with the company for almost 10 years. It was while working for that family that I came to accept the Lord into my life. It was my boss who encouraged me to seek the Lord and he was also my godfather when I got baptised. I am impressed with the balanced lifestyle my boss is living and his family’s contributions to charities and missionaries worldwide. I hope to emulate what they are doing and make a difference in this world. I also treasure all the friends that I have made during my stay in Brunei, not forgetting all my fabulous ex-colleagues and care group and CBMC members in Brunei. Brunei is a tiny oil-rich country with rich cultural heritage, sprawling palaces and friendly people. And it lives up to its name as an abode of peace.
I started selling on Ebay in the second half of 2008 and I am now a Ebay Powerseller and Top-Rated Seller. I sell mainly coins, currency notes and stamps on Ebay. You can check me out on Ebay by making a search for my Ebay ID e-cybiz or my eBay sote CyCollectibles. Ebay is now providing me with a good stream of income.
I am also embarking on generating streams of income from internet marketing and internet investment opportunities. The internet offers unlimited opportunities and the whole world is your oyster. It is like a huge gold mine awaiting to be mined. If you want a share, go out and get it….learn the skills of internet marketing…equip yourself with the necessary tools so that you can begin “mining” the internet. Just remember that Rome was not built in one day. To succeed, you need persistence, consistency, open-mindedness,and willingness to learn and paying the price. You also need to get out of your comfort zone.
