While doing window shopping at Imperial Mall in Miri today, I came across these “internet-themed” flippers at one of the shops there. I saw Google flippers, Facebook flippers, Yahoo flippers, Twitter flippers and YouTube flippers.Obviously these are marketed without the permission of all these online iconic companies. But what the heck! Go get yourself a pair now!
Afflicted with visual impairment for over three decades, 35-year-old Zhang Yuxia makes a living as a street singer/pianist at Tamsui, Taiwan. For the past four years, she has established a fan base of considerable size in the locality.
If you just listen to her songs without seeing her, you will immediately think you are listening to Teresa Teng . Their voices sound so alike! There has been comments that the warm and crystalline voice that God bestow upon Zhang is to make up for her loss of sight.
Listen now to Zhang sing “The Moon Represents My Heart” and then listen to Teresa Teng singing the same song. You will be amazed!
Teresa Teng (Dèng Lìj?n aka Teng Li-chun aka T?ng L?-kun), born on January 29 1953, was an immensely popular and influential Chinese pop singer from Taiwan. Teresa Teng’s voice and songs are instantly recognized throughout East Asia and in areas with large Asian populations.
It is often said, “Wherever there are Chinese people, the songs of Teresa Teng can be heard.” Her songs also enjoy popularity among Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Indonesian listeners. Even Deng Xiaoping, Communist China’s second most powerful leader after Mao, was a loyal fan of Teng.
Teng was known for her folk songs and romantic ballads. Many became standards in her lifetime, such as “When Will You Return?” and “The Moon Represents My Heart” ( Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin). She recorded songs not only in her native Mandarin but also in Taiwanese, Cantonese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and English.
Teng, a lifelong sufferer from asthma, died on May 8 1995 from a severe respiratory attack while vacationing in Thailand. She was 42. She was given state honors at her funeral in Taiwan, with the flag of the Republic of China draped over her casket and then president Lee Teng-hui in attendance among thousands in mourning.
She was buried in a mountainside tomb at Chin Pao San, a cemetery in Jinshan, Taipei County (now New Taipei City) in northern Taiwan. The grave site features a statue of Teng and a large electronic piano keyboard set in the ground that can be played by visitors who step on the keys. The memorial has become a tourist attraction for her fans.
When God created men and women, he made them different. Men come with a “P” and women come with a “V”. Yes, men and women have different genitalia. But is that all the difference between men and women? Not by a long shot!
Women fall in love with men for their charm and rough edges, but they will only keep their men when their men show that they can take a certain degree of training. Remember, a good woman will change her man, but it’s almost always for the better.
There are some men who believe they need a complicated empirical formula to understand women. It’s true that women can at times be almost impossible to understand in relationships. However, it only takes some patience, time and a little determination to decipher even the most confusing female behavior.
Do research by spending some time with your female friends, female colleagues, sisters, or female relatives and pick their brains. Ask questions that have been baffling you. You’ll be surprised at how much you can learn about female behavior, habits, interests and desires just by spending time with them.
Get out of your comfort zone. Most women expect their men to be in touch with their own emotions as well. Learn to open up and not keep all your feelings bottled up inside. Let down your guard and confide in her about any life-changing events or experiences, such as the death of a loved one. As you continue to share your inner-most emotions with her, the bond between you and her will grow immensely. For women, sharing emotions and stories is an important part of a relationship.
Women need to communicate often to feel connected. This means talking, looking, touching … but essentially talking. Listen to what she has to say. This requires staying silent on your part. You have probably conditioned yourself to look as though you’re listening when, in fact, your mind is somewhere else completely. It’s time to stop such disrespectful behavior and get used to giving the woman in your life your undivided attention. All you have to do is to listen. In most situations, you don’t even have to give any advice because all she wants is to know that you care.By listening intently, you will be warmly appreciated.
Women do not always want you to fix things; they often just want you to listen, be sympathetic and tell them about a time when you felt the exact same way. When men listen to a problem, they immediately think of doing something to solve it. Do not do that, just listen without offering advice or, if you feel you must do something, ask: “Is this one of those times when you want me to listen and not give you advice, or can I say something?” If you do it this way, she will see you really understand her and she is going to appreciate you a lot.
Talk to her. When the two of you have a disagreement or argument, do not give her the silent treatment. You must let go of your pride, however difficult it may be, and approach her for a heart-to-heart conversation. If you refuse to open up, you will only make the woman in your life feel more insecure and uncertain about the relationship, and this will make her behavior seem that much more confusing.
Walk a mile in her shoes. You will gain a much broader understanding of women in relationships if you simply take the time and effort to acknowledge the struggles and disappointments that women face. Try to look at the world from a female viewpoint, but be aware that the view may be quite overwhelming. As you become familiar with some of the hardships that women face, you will gain a much deeper understanding of a woman’s mind and heart. When that occurs, you will never be confused again.
Women understand that they are physically weaker than men. Women see the world as “violent”, contrary to men, who mainly find it “competitive”. That is why women, even teenagers, look for company to walk with them in the streets, or look forward to living with a man by their side when they grow up. This gives them a feeling of security: the most important requirement to develop and fulfill their femininity.
When they find this security, the next step in a woman’s world is to take care of their immediate environment. Not only do they have to be beautiful, taking care of themselves… their immediate environment also needs to be beautiful. That is why women care so much about that “pretty little earring” and little things.
It has been said that women are funny beings and the more men try to understand them the more men get confused and disoriented. The secret to understanding women is to realize that they are emotional beings driven by spikes in hormonal changes in the body.
When a woman says, “You’re … so manly” it means—– You’re a little strong on the scent, need a shave, and you sweated a lot.
When a woman says, “You’re certainly attentive tonight”, it means —— Is sex all you ever think about?
When a woman says, “Do you love me?”, it means —– I’m going to ask for something really expensive from you.
When a woman says, “How much do you love me?” it means —– I did something terrible today and you’re really not going to like it, but if you love me as much as you should it won’t really matter.
When a woman says, “Did you just hear the baby?” it means—– Get your butt out of bed right now, and go get the baby and do what ever it takes to quiet him, so I can get some rest.
A woman’s prerogative is to change like the wind! So be prepared!
Oh yes, my fellow men, despair no more. I have found the definitive guide to understanding women. So cheer up, man! You are gonna love this book!
Do you remember how you felt when you had your first kiss? One YouTube video sensation is taking its viewers down memory lane as it shows the innocent first kiss between 5-year-old Elliot and his 6-year-old friend Bowie.
Elliot and Bowie will remember their first kiss forever because the video of their first kiss on YouTube has already garnered more than seven million views on YouTube since it was uploaded on May 4 2011.
Harmony Smith, the 24-year-old mother of Elliot, had no idea that the video would become such a viral hit when she posted it on YouTube last week to share with family and friends.
Smith was taking a video of Elliot and Bowie when they started to talk about giving each other a kiss after Bowie kissed Elliot on the cheek.
Elliot says, "You kissed me, I kiss you."
The two playfully go back and forth with Elliot then giving Bowie a kiss on the arm. Elliot goes in for another "arm kiss," and Bowie says, "Let's kiss."
The two then kiss on the lips while Elliot's mother can be heard saying, "Hey, hey, hey … no more."
Elliot then proceeds to hoot and holler crying out, "Woo hoo, we kissed on the lips."
Don’t worry, they are not related. She is literally the “girl next door”. It just so happens that Elliott’s shirt has 'All You Need Is Love' written on it, while Bowie’s middle name is 'Love'. What a coincidence!
Teen sensation Justin Bieber saw the video and tweeted it to his more than nine million followers saying “This kid has game.”
Is this a case of “Too much, too soon, too young” or is it plain cute and adorable?
The video has given Smith and the two video stars the opportunity to appear on "Good Morning America" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
However, these two sweeties are just being innocent and in the moment.
"I kiss you because I like you," is smug Elliott's reaction.
Cute!

Britain’s Got Talent sensation Michael Collings is fueled by a burning desire to lift his family out of grinding poverty. The 19-year-old apprentice IT engineer Michael lives in a caravan with his parents, faces a daily struggle to make ends meet.
Michael stormed through to the show’s semi-finals in front of a TV audience of 13 million last night. As he plugged his guitar into the speaker and prepared to perform, judge Amanda Holden turned to Michael McIntyre and quipped: “He looks like he’s going on a long haul flight. ”
Michael laughed: “On Easy Jet!”
But they were soon made to eat their words as he belted out a moving version of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car.
Speaking at this week’s press screening, Holden admitted that she totally judged Michael on how he looked and was subsequently proved wrong, just as she was by international best selling artist Susan Boyle. She said:
“It’s like the Susan Boyle thing, you completely judge people as you see them and it’s always a surprise.”
After wowing the judges with his stunning rendition of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car, Michael is dreaming of a life of fame and fortune.
Former Baywatch star, David Hasselhoff was blown away by the performance and beamed: “You did a beautiful job and sang with heart. Britain’s Got Talent, you are it.”
Fellow judge Amanda Holden compared his performance to the jaw-dropping moment when series three winner Susan Boyle took to the stage.
Michael – who has an eight-week-old son, Jamie with fiancée Sarah –hopes to follow in the footsteps of the Scottish singing sensation who has made an astounding £6million since she amazed the judges with her performance of I Dreamed A Dream two years ago.
Michael, from Saltash, near Plymouth, said: “At the moment I’m still in the caravan with my parents so it would be great to get a place for Sophie, Jamie and myself.
“That’s the main reason behind me doing this, to take them with me and provide for my family.
“It would be such a relief not to have to worry about money all the time like we do now.”
Singer-guitarist Michael – an early favourite to land the show’s £100,000 prize and a slot at the Royal Variety Performance – added: “It’s all the little bills that you don’t remember about.
“I’m still an apprentice so I’m not earning anywhere near as much as I’d like to and I worry about bills all the time.
“If this goes well it would be my dream to put a deposit down on a small two bedroom house.”
Michael, whose performance has already had thousands of hits on YouTube, met Sarah three-and-a-half years ago. He did not make the best first impression after he wolf-whistled at her from across the road.
But she fell for his charms and after a few months together he decided to start saving up for an engagement ring. Michael said: “Because I wasn’t earning much at all I had to save up, but even then I could only afford a £45 ring and a meal in an all you can eat Chinese.
“Still she said yes so it all worked out and hopefully in the future I can treat her to a few more expensive meals.”
It’s true what they say…you can’t stop a person with a burning desire!
Enjoy Michael’s rendition of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car at this link.
