The internet is abuzz about a “nine-year-old Japanese Messi” who displays dazzling skills in a video that has gone viral.

The wonder-kid seems to be able to maneuver his way around players with ease . However it seems that nobody knows who this whiz kid is.

The young player is being compared to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi as he shows mesmerising control to dribble past opponents in a similar fashion to the pint-sized Argentine.

And guess what? The kid has attracted the attention of Lionel Messi’s former coach at the Barcelona youth team – Francisco Javier García Pimienta – who posted a link to the video on his Twitter feed.

Michelle Sung Wie , (Wie Seong-mi, born October 11, 1989) is an American professional golfer. In 2006, she was named in a Time magazine article, “one of 100 people who shape our world.”

Omega Ambassador Michelle Wie

Wie was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents were immigrants from the Republic of Korea (South Korea) who came to the United States in the 1980s. Her father, Byung-wook Wie, is a former professor of transportation management at the University of Hawaii. Her mother was South Korea’s women’s amateur golf champion in 1985 and competed in a Miss Korea pageant. Her paternal grandfather, Dr. Sang Kyu Wie, a resident of Jangheung, Jeollanam-do, was an emeritus professor at Seoul National University.

Michelle Wie

When she was born, since both of her parents had been Korean, Wie had been a dual citizen of both the Republic of Korea and the United States automatically. But, the Republic of Korea does not allow dual citizenship after the age of 21. Wie has opted for United States citizenship.

Wie graduated from Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii in June, 2007. On December 19, 2006, she announced that she would be attending Stanford University where there are family ties. Her paternal grandfather was a visiting professor and an aunt and uncle are both graduates.

She enrolled in September, 2007 as a freshman, but as a professional golfer, Wie is not eligible under NCAA rules to play for Stanford’s golf team. During her first three years at Stanford, she attended only during the fall and winter quarters, running from late September through mid-March each year. She took leaves of absence during the rest of the year to play professional golf.

Wie began playing golf at the age of four. In 2000, at the age of ten,  she shot a 64 at one of her favorite courses to qualify for a USGA amateur championship event at the USGA’s Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship, becoming the youngest player ever to do so. Eight years later, Wie’s mark was broken by fellow Hawaiian Allisen Corpuz who qualified when she was five months younger than Wie had been when she set the record.

In 2001, at the age of 11, she won both the Hawaii State Women’s Stroke Play Championship and the Jennie K. Wilson Women’s Invitational, the oldest and most prestigious women’s amateur tournament in Hawaii. She also advanced into match play at the Women’s U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.

In 2002, the prodigy won the Hawaii State Open Women’s Division by thirteen shots. She also became the youngest player (at 12 years old) to qualify for an LPGA event, the Takefuji Classic held in Wie’s home state of Hawaii. While she went on to miss the cut, her record stood for five more years until it was broken in 2007 by 11-year-old Ariya Jutanugarn.

Also in 2002, Wie reached the semifinals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship, a tourney she would later win.

At the 2003 Kraft Nabisco Championship, Wie became the youngest player to make an LPGA cut. She carded a 66 in the 3rd round, tying the amateur record for a women’s major championship and qualifying her to play in the final group of the championship.

In June 2003, Wie won the Women’s Amateur Public Links tournament, becoming the youngest person ever, male or female, to win a USGA adult event. Later that summer, she made the cut at the US Women’s Open when she was still just 13, the youngest player ever to do so.

Amazingly, Wie was not satisfied with taking on the LPGA. She attempted to compete against men in the 2003 Sony Open on the PGA Tour. Though she missed the bid, she punctuated her year by joining the final grouping in her first LPGA major, and playing in three tournaments in which she was the only female.

In 2004, Wie qualified for the Sony Open, becoming the youngest player to ever play on the PGA tour. She missed the cut, but made headlines everywhere for making such an incredible appearance. Wie was also selected for the U.S. golf team, and finished an amazing fourth at the LPGA major event, the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

On October 5, 2005, a week before her 16th birthday, Wie turned professional, accompanied by an enormous amount of hype and endorsements.  She signed sponsorship contracts with Nike and Sony reportedly worth more than 10 million dollars per year.

What is her golf club leaning against? Hahaha!

Having turned professional, Wie was not a member of any professional tour. LPGA Tour membership age requirements require a golfer to be 18, although some players such as Morgan Pressel and Aree Song have successfully petitioned for an exemption to join at age 17.

Wie chose not to request an exemption and was thus only allowed to participate in a limited number of LPGA Tour events when given a sponsor’s exemption from 2005 until 2008. She also chose not to participate in the Tour’s Qualifying Tournaments (or “Q-School”) until December 2008, when she finished 7th to gain LPGA membership for the 2009 season.

In her first two tournaments on the LPGA Tour in early 2006, Wie gained a third place finish in the Fields Open in Hawaii, finishing one stroke off the lead, and finished in a tie for third in the Kraft Nabisco Championship, finishing one stroke behind, again.

Michelle Wie Celebrates Birdie

May, 2006, saw her play the Asian Tour SK Telecom Open, becoming the second woman (after Se Ri Pak) to make the cut at a men’s tournament in South Korea. Wie reportedly received US$700,000 in appearance fees at an event that offered only US$600,000 in total prize money. In all, she reportedly netted US$5 million in appearance and endorsement money for the two-week trip.

By the end of 2006, her first full year as a professional, Wie had missed the cut in 11 out of 12 tries against men, and remained winless in all 33 professional women’s tournaments she had entered, the last 9 as a professional.

In December 2007, Wie was ranked at #4 in the Forbes Top 20 Earners Under 25 with an annual earnings of 19 million dollars even though she struggled in golf tournaments that year.

On November 15, 2009, Wie won her first professional individual tournament, the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico, a limited field event on the LPGA Tour, posting a score of thirteen under par 275 for a two-stroke margin over fellow American Paula Creamer, and besting Jiyai Shin, Christie Kerr and Morgan Pressel by two strokes. It was Wie’s 81st professional tournament and her 66th LPGA Tour event. She then finished second in the Ladies European Tour season-ending Dubai Ladies Masters tournament on December 9–12, 2009, shooting a 15-under-par 273, which put her three shots behind winner In-Kyung Kim.

On August 29, 2010, she posted a three-shot win over a full field at the CN Canadian Women’s Open, held at St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for her second career professional victory. In her next LPGA event, she finished second in the 54-hole P&G NW Arkansas Championship two weeks later, shooting 201 (-12) but losing to Yani Tseng by one stroke after giving up an overnight three-stroke lead.

Wayne Rooney scored one of the greatest goals the Premier League has seen in Manchester United’s derby victory against Manchester City. His acrobatic overhead volley proved the winner as United clinched a crucial 2-1 victory over their title rivals.

Rooney's overhead volley secured victory for Manchester United

David Silva’s deflected equaliser put Roberto Mancini’s side in sight of a point after Nani’s first-half goal gave United a slender advantage in a tight and tense encounter.

It was Rooney, however, who produced a moment of sheer inspiration to score a stunning overhead kick that will live forever in the memory of United’s fans and extended City’s dismal sequence of only one league win in their last 27 visits to Old Trafford.

Silva’s fortunate equaliser, unwittingly deflecting in substitute Edin Dzeko’s shot via his back, had given City momentum but they were stopped in their tracks in the most dramatic fashion with only 12 minutes left.

Nani’s cross from the right flank was high and behind Rooney as he lurked near the penalty spot, but he readjusted his position and send an acrobatic, unstoppable overhead kick high past startled City keeper Joe Hart.

The quality of the goal was worthy of winning any game and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson may even look back on it as a strike that won the title after they bounced back from their first Premier League defeat of the season at Wolves last Saturday.

Rooney’s overhead kick was not simply confirmation that he remains England’s most natural, instinctive talent. In the context of the Premier League title race it may prove priceless.

Rooney celebrating his amazing goal.

And if his love affair with Old Trafford was a bit strained by the saga of his demand to leave earlier this season, the bond was rekindled as United claimed a vital victory.

It enabled them to extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points at the final whistle  (later reduced to 4 points when Arsenal beat Wolves 2-0 ) – and also inflicted a serious blow to City’s own lingering hopes of mounting a challenge as they now stand eight points behind United having played a game more.

Wayne Rooney proved the old adage that form is temporary and class is permanent as he scored a sensational overhead kick to give Manchester United the derby-day spoils at Old Trafford.

Rooney’s moment of genius was worthy of winning any game, and with City surely out of the running now, maybe it will win United the Premier League title too.

A 19-year-old Venezuelan attacking midfielder scores a Maradona-esque goal.

Venezuelan starlet Yohandry Orozco has shot to fame with an astonishing goal in an U20 World Cup qualifying match.

The 19-year-old picked up the ball from inside his own half and jinked past no less than seven opponents before blasting a long-range rocket into the top corner of the net.

The wonder goal, which has garnered almost 167,000 views on YouTube in two days, drew Venezuela level with Peru, and also earned the attacking midfielder comparisons to Diego Maradona’s stunning strike against England in the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals.

Orozco, who has already been capped by his country at senior level, currently plays for Venezuelan top-flight club Zulia. However, based on this piece of brilliant play, it seems like it won’t be long before he makes it to one of the world’s top leagues.

Anna Benson is an American model, and wife of Major League Baseball pitcher Kris Benson. With Kris Benson retiring and out of the spotlight, people are wondering what impact this will have on his wife. Kris was a popular player but his wife surpassed him in popularity. She was named FHM’s hottest baseball wife in 2004 and was ranked # 29 on FHM-U.S.’s 100 Sexiest Women 2006.

Anna Benson....hottest baseball wife

The 5 ft 5 in Anna Benson is a real brunette bombshell who seems addicted to the attention that comes being in the limelight. Her vital statistics of 34DD-24-34 makes men droll. Her hot saucy photos are all over the web. She is an extremely popular figure with fans across the country.

A figure that makes men droll

Anna Benson was born outside of Atlanta, Georgia on February 12, 1976. A self-described “lonely latchkey kid,” Benson dropped out of school following her sophomore year of high school, and left home when she was sixteen.

Subsequently, she says, “I was a dancer in the Atlanta strip clubs…. I had a baby and then a husband when I was seventeen.” In 1998, she met her future husband, Kris, while she was dancing at the Mardi Gras, a strip club in Atlanta, when he was playing for the Nashville Sounds in the minor leagues. She and Kris Benson were married in October 1999 (her second marriage, his first).

Anna & Kris Benson

Anna filed for divorce on March 31, 2006, citing an “irretrievably broken” marriage. Anna Benson—who commented, “when I came to Kris, I had nothing—two pairs of panties and one bra; suddenly, I found I was married to a millionaire”–had not signed a prenuptial agreement. She later withdrew the petition, and subsequently has had two additional children with Kris. Altogether, they have four children: daughters Alyssa and Haylee, and sons P.J. (from “Paul James”) and Devin, and currently reside in Atlanta.

She has worked with charitable organizations over the years such as the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army and American Red Cross. The couple has a non-profit charity called Benson’s Battalion that helped area police forces in the cities where her husband played.

On July 30, 2004, the Pirates traded Kris Benson to the New York Mets. In November 2004, Benson posed for the cover and a spread in FHM magazine and was named “baseball’s hottest wife.” In an interview with Howard Stern later that year, she vowed that if her husband ever cheated on her she would take revenge by sleeping with the entire Mets organization. Benson later explained the comment as “stupid humor to be understood by these idiots who take everything so literally.

In July 2005, she began playing at the 2005 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas under the nickname the “Gold Digger”. She outlasted 70% of the overall playing field.

The New York Times, having previously noted Anna Benson’s “calculated outrageousness,” wrote that in “her one year in New York, Anna Benson drove the Mets to distraction.” Sports reporter Murray Chase, described by baseball’s Hall of Fame as “a pioneer in the coverage of business and labor issues within baseball,” wrote of the Mets-Orioles trade, “Kris Benson doesn’t have a good enough arm for the Mets to overlook his wife’s mouth. … And by trading Anna Benson, the Mets may have achieved what [former Yankees manager] Casey Stengel called addition by subtraction.”

Anna Benson...one of the sexiest women in USA

Kris Benson himself later said that he felt New York traded him to Baltimore because of his wife, but Omar Minaya, general manager of the Mets, ultimately discounted speculation that her behavior had played a role, saying, “We just made a baseball trade.”

Mirroring Chass’ linkage of the Bentons, Sports Illustrated opined that Anne Benson’s “outlandish antics” had ultimately come to overshadow her husband’s “few good years” in the major leagues.

Anna Benson...she makes men droll

A “self-professed animal lover” with several dogs, Benson has written that PETA, a well-known animal rights organization, should “get a real fucking cause,” asserting that “nothing keeps me warmer than my dead animals” (i.e., fur) and that soy gives her “painful gas.”

Contending that citizens of the United States, having twice elected George W. Bush to the presidency, bore some responsibility for Bush’s actions while in office, Benson has written that she feels filmmaker and Bush critic Michael Moore errs in laying the “blame on one man’s head.” Criticizing Moore’s weight, patriotism and intelligence—and his wife’s weight as well—Benson argued that Moore’s films lacked objectivity and failed to aid the successful prosecution of the United States’ armed actions in the Middle East following 9/11. Benson, writing that health care, the focus of one of Moore’s films, will be “irrelevant” if “Muslim radicals” are successful in “killing Jews and Christians,” held that the “politically retarded” “fat kid who got beat up by the jocks at school” should be tried for treason.

Anna Benson loves the spotlight

Benson, who asserts elsewhere that $1,000,000 of her husband’s salary while with the Mets was donated to “9/11 causes,”, has also written critically about the slow response time of the federal, state, and local governments to the 2005 levee failures in Greater New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. Referencing memories of her childhood summers in New Orleans, Benson, in an open letter to the city, she said, “We have failed you, New Orleans, and we are very sorry and deeply ashamed.” While critical of Bush’s role in the government’s response, she expressed gratefulness that that the United States was “lucky enough to have a humble President who admits that he was wrong in his decision making….” She also recommended that Democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco be prosecuted for negligent homicide.

Her pitcher-husband will likely not be missed much, but Anna Benson certainly will be.

Indonesia beat Malaysia 2-1 in the AFF Suzuki Cup final second leg match at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta tonight. But that was not enough for them as Malaysia had won the first leg 3-0. Malaysia thus won the cup with a 4-2 aggregate.

Striker Safee Sali scored in the 52nd minute to put Malaysia 1-0 in the lead in the second leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup final. Mohammad Nasuh then equalised for Indonesia in the 71st minute.  Indonesia’s Ridwan scored in the 87th minute to put his team 2-1 in the lead against Malaysia.

In the first half, Indonesia threw all it had at a gutsy Malaysian team. The Malaysian boys, however, held their ground and also survived a penalty miss by the hosts.

Earlier, it was a sea of red and white at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

Never has there been such an overwhelming show of support for “Timnas” (national team) Indonesia although they had lost to Malaysia 0-3 in the first-leg of the final in the Suzuki Cup Asean Football Federation (AFF) Championships at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.

They stood behind the national team. It was a sell-out crowd of 88,000 spectators and mostly filled with red-hot hostile fans.

The police were at full force, too. Some 10,000 have been deployed to check on security in and out of the Bung Karno Stadium.

They had their armoured vehicles drive in near the pitch and showed that they were ready for any eventualities.

Indeed, it captured a real Cup final atmosphere with fans clad in the Indonesian national colours, fancy head gears and colourful banners. Uruguay-born striker Christian Gonzales, Indo-Dutch Irfan Bacdim and local hero Bambang Pamungkas were the crowd favourites.

There were also warning notices for fans not to bring banned items into the stadium, especially laser beam lights, which has stirred a controversy in the AFF Championships since Dec 1.

The stadium was filled to the brim two hours before the kick off. They were entertained to a live band performance by celebrities and artistes making it a carnival atmosphere.

Malaysian national coach K. Rajagopal, manager Datuk Subahan Kamal, assistant secretary of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) Kelly Sathiraj and assistant coach Tan Cheng Hoe were given a hostile reception when they trooped onto the pitch to check on the playing conditions.

The fans showed the thumbs down sign and jeered at them before their Indonesian counterparts led by Austrian coach Alfred Riedl was given a rousing welcome.

Hours before the kick off, the tense atmosphere could be felt outside The Sultan hotel where the Malaysian football team was staying.

It has been tense ever since the team arrived Monday and since Malaysia beat the Indonesians 3-0 in Sunday’s AFF Suzuki Cup final first leg at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

Since morning, red-shirted Indonesian fans began to arrive in large numbers at the stadium. Some had been camping there the whole night. Car horns were blaring most of the day, with traffic almost coming to a standstill.

Malaysian team manager Datuk Subahan Kamal said they have been provided with adequate security and even given a senior police officer to attend to the team’s needs round-the-clock.

“The mood is good inside (the team) but we are quite worried what is going to happen outside. I was told that it is tensed out there.

“The Indonesian fans are upset with our victory in the first-leg at Bukit Jalil,” Subahan said.

Coach K. Rajagopal advised the boys to remain focused and not get distracted by the happenings outside.

On Tuesday, the team’s final training at the Senayan C ground was called off due to security concerns.

Even their plans to train at an alternative venue backfired when they got caught in a traffic jam. Rajagopal was left with no other choice but to concentrate on light training at the hotel grounds.

There were reports of Indonesian fans mobbing them with banners carrying anti-Malaysia slogans during the training at the hotel ground.

The announcement of the hosts for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2022 FIFA World Cup has been made by FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter before a live audience and the global media representatives at the Zurich Exhibition Centre.

Russia has won the FIFA vote to host the 2018 World Cup finals, beating competition from England, Netherlands/Belgium and Spain/Portugal. It will be the first time Russia has hosted the tournament.

Qatar has been awarded the 2022 World Cup finals after seeing off challenges from Australia, Japan, South Korea and the USA. The Middle Eastern country will also host the tournament for the first time.

The FIFA executive committees’ decision comes as a slight surprise after the US and Australia bids had been highly-fancied.

Although their bid report from FIFA fared less well, the Russian government has pledged billions of dollars to build new stadiums and infrastructure. A tournament in Russia would also open a huge, relatively untapped market for FIFA

The staging of the 2022 tournament by Qatar, a tiny gar-rch emirate on the Persian Gulf, has come in for some criticism because of the weather in the country during June and July – when temperatures can rise as high as 50 degrees Celsius – while the country’s small population of less than a million and the close proximity of the stadiums had also raised some questions.

But a well-funded, innovative campaign has come up with a new form of zero-carbon air conditioning technology to be used in the Qatar stadiums, technology that could then have application in the third world afterwards.

England’s bid to host the 2018 finals looks to have suffered from a backlash against corruption investigations into FIFA members by BBC Panorama and the Sunday Times over the last two months.

Congratulations to Russia and Qatar!

The decision on the hosting of the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup tournaments will be revealed in Zurich in less than an hour from now.

America’s final pitch to host to the 2022 World Cup was left to a former president and an Oscar-winning actor, who talked of diversity and outlined an aggressive economic plan in a 30-minute presentation with hopes of sweeping past Australia, Japan, Qatar and South Korea in today’s vote.

While Clinton’s speech veered into highlights of his own foundation’s achievements, Freeman invoked the name of Nelson Mandela, the former South African president who helped bring the 2010 World Cup to that nation. Freeman portrayed Mandela in the movie “Invictus,” based on the former political prisoner’s role in the 1995 Rugby World Cup and using it to unite a country separated by apartheid.

“We are now the most diverse nation on earth,” Freeman said. “And our patchwork heritage is our greatest strength.”

Freeman later introduced the video of Obama, who delivered a similar message of inclusion.

“Ours has always been a nation of great diversity and great promise,” Obama said. “Anything is possible.”

The World Cup bid team noted that no infrastructure needs to be built to host the tournament in the U.S. The Americans also highlighted the growth of soccer in the country since it hosted the World Cup for the first time in 1994.

The single item that could sway voters toward the American bid is its moneymaking potential. Among the 18 proposed game sites are the new, suite-filled stadiums of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants and Jets.

The vote for the 2018 World Cup site will also be announced in less than an hour from now, with England, Russia, Spain-Portugal and Belgium-Netherlands competing for the honor.

The bid process has been by far the most controversial that FIFA has ever overseen. Its decision to decide the fate of both the 2018 and 2022 bids at the same time has been widely criticized for encouraging vote collusion between bids — an accusation FIFA deny.

But it was the revelations by the British newspaper the Sunday Times that has marred the process. Undercover journalists secretly filmed two members of FIFA’s then 24-strong executive committee allegedly offering to sell their votes. The accusations of corruption resulted in the suspension of two voters, leaving 22.

The corruption allegations didn’t stop England from pushing ahead in its bid, with David Beckham, Prince Williams and British Prime Minister David Cameron all schmoozing with FIFA voters in Zurich.

The other 2022 presenters did their best to highlight their nations’ strongest qualities:

Australia used supermodel Elle Macpherson and an animated kangaroo to back up its catchphrase of being the “world’s greatest playground.”

Australia is pinning their hopes on the body of Elle Macpherson.

Qatar, which may have had the slickest show, relied mainly on proving it can keep the country cool during the blazing hot summer months.

South Korea played the political angle, saying a World Cup on its soil could foster peace relations on the divided peninsula.

“We saw that football has the power to bring people together, to end enmity and to spur reconciliation,” South Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik said. “It gave us a vision that the World Cup in 2022 can be a celebration of peace for Korea and the world.”

Japan appears to have very little support for the bid within FIFA.

The Federation Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA, soccer’s world governing body, will announce the hosts of the 2018 and 2022 competitions in less than an hour from now. Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and the prime ministers of South Korea, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Belgium have flown to Zurich to push their countries bids. Hosting the tournament is worth about $5 billion, according to American estimates.

The results will be known any time now. Stay tuned!

Manny Pacquiao cemented his place in the annals of boxing greats by claiming the vacant WBC super welterweight title with an unanimous points victory over Antonio Margarito on Saturday. And in doing so, he proved beyond a doubt that size doesn’t matter as much as speed and quickness. And heart.

Manny Pacquiao....WBC Super Welterweight Champion

The 31-year-old Filipino,  17 pounds lighter than Margarito at the opening bell, dominated all 12 rounds against his bigger Mexican opponent in front of a raucous crowd of 41,734 at Cowboys Stadium to land an eighth world title in an unprecedented eighth weight class. Nobody else has more than six.

Having already established himself as one of the best offensive fighters of all time, Pacquiao outclassed Margarito with his lightning hand speed and precise punching to improve his career record to 52-3-2 with 38 knockouts.

Pacquiao (59-3, 39 KOs) put on a boxing clinic, dominating the fight from start to finish, landing combinations at will as Margarito could not protect his face. By the end of the fight, Margarito’s face was a bloody, swollen pulp. But he never gave up.

Antonio Margarito's badly swollen face

“It’s hard,” Pacquiao said ringside after winning his 13th consecutive fight since losing to Erik Morales in Las Vegas in March 2005. “I really do my best to win the fight.

“I was looking for a chance to stop the fight in the 10th round. But Margarito kept fighting back.”

“He’s strong. I never expected him to be as strong as he was. He’s a very tough fighter. I can’t believe he took all those punches.”

The Filipino, a heavily odds-on favorite going into the fight, pummelled the Mexican’s head virtually at will for much of the bout, leaving his opponent with a badly swollen right eye and a puffed left eye.

Despite being outweighed by 17 pounds, Pacquiao blended raw power with speed to deliver a dominant performance against an opponent who was also five inches taller.

At one point during the 11th round, Pacquiao looked at referee Laurence Cole and asked him to stop the fight. “My opponent looked bad, I wanted him to stop it,” Pacquiao said. ” I said, ‘look at his face. ‘ I didn’t want to damage him permanently. That’s not what boxing’s all about.”

Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs) said he kept on fighting because “I’m a Mexican and there’s no way I was going to quit. I fight until the end.”

“In the 12th round I wasn’t looking for a knockout. I take it easy because my trainer told me to take it easy and just be careful.”

Pacquiao, fighting for the first time since winning a seat in his country’s national congress earlier this year, gained one-sided verdicts from all three judges – 120-109, 118-110 and 119-109.

“We didn’t lose a round,” said Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach. “I wish they had stopped the fight. They probably ruined his (Margarito’s) career by not stopping the fight.”

Three-times world champion Margarito was fighting for the first time in the United States since he and his trainer Javier Capetillo were banned for a year after plaster-like bandage wraps were found in the fighter’s gloves before the Mosley fight on Jan. 24, 2009. Mosley ended up winning that fight by ninth round TKO. Dubbed the “Tijuana Tornado”, 32-year-old Margarito from Tijuana, Mexico, last fought on May 8 when he beat Roberto Garcia in a WBC international light-middleweight bout in his homeland, winning by a unanimous decision.

The controversial Mexican was welcomed by a mixture of cheers and boos when he first made his way toward the ring set up in the state-of-the-art home venue for the Dallas Cowboys NFL team.

Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, said he thought Pacquiao won all 12 rounds. “I wished we’d knocked him out, but he’s a very tough guy,” Roach said.

Pacquiao won all 12 rounds on one judge’s scorecard, 11 of 12 on another and 10 of 12 on the third card. He threw 1,069 punches and landed 474 (44%), good for eighth all time in title fights.

Margarito connected on 229 of 817 (28%).

Pacquiao’s edge in power punches was hard to overcome. He landed 411 of 713 (58%), while Margarito hit on 135 of 312 (43%).

Pacquiao landing a right against Antonio Margarito in the second round

Pacquiao said Margarito hurt him a few times when he was up against the ropes in the middle and later rounds. “He hurt me in the body and in the face,” Pacquiao said. “He’s tougher than I thought.

“It was a hard fight. I did my best to win that fight. I can’t believe I beat someone that strong and big.”

Asked about fighting Floyd Mayweather, Pacquiao said, “If it happens it happens. If not, I’m satisfied with my career, but that fight would be great for boxing.”

Margarito gave Pacquiao his props afterwards. “He’s the best fighter in the world,” Margarito said of the Filipino champion and congressman. “He’s just too fast. It’s hard to land a punch on that guy.”

World No. 1 Nicol David chalked up her eight consecutive Women’s International Squash Players Association (Wispa) title when she defeated third seed Rachael Grinham of Australia in straights sets in the final of the Torneo International Bicentenario Mexico Open 2010 in Mexico on Sunday.

Torneo International Bicentenario Mexico Open 2010

The five-time world champion won 12-10, 11-4, 11-5 in 35 minutes. In her first appearance in the tournament, the 27-year-old Malaysian also won the three other matches without dropping a set.

“It was important to win the first set as I know how dangerous Rachael can be. I just had to keep getting her shots back,” Nicol.

“I am happy to win in straight sets. It has been great to have so many Mexican fans here, and I want to thank everyone who has been involved in the event as it is fantastic – the setting, the crowds and everything.”

Grinham said: “Nicol has proved that she is the best in the world. So all you can do is to try and make her work as hard as possible to beat you.”

The Penangite, who has been the world No. 1 since August in 2006, started the year by bagging the Chennai Open in March.

Nicol, whose best achievement on the Wispa circuit was winning all 10 tournaments she competed in 2008, went on to win the KL Open (March), Cayman Islands Open (April), Malaysian Open (July), Singapore Masters (July), Hong Kong Open (August) and World Open (September).

Nicol, who also won gold in the recent Delhi Commonwealth Games, will feature in the Qatar Classics next month (Nov 5-12) before she heads for Guangzhou to defend the Asian Games title (Nov 18-25).

Nicol has once again proven that she is a sports person without parallel in Malaysia. Congratulations, Nicol!
