It’s Saturday night. I got back back from Kuching about 3 hours ago. My wife and I flew to Kuching on June 25 to attend the wedding of my niece, Dr Angel Lim. The last two days had been a flurry of activities and had been quite tiring but it was really great to be able to attend Angel’s wedding.  Angel is the second daughter of my brother Kiong and she is a doctor. Her husband is Dr Bernard Cheu, an orthopaedics specialist doctor.

My brother and my sister-in-law hosted the wedding dinner reception at Asajaya Hall of the Grand Margherita Hotel (the former Holiday Inn) on June 25. There was almost a full turnout of invited guests and the hall was packed. It was really a joyous occasion for us all!

Wedding day was June 26. We had to get up at about 5 am to go to my brother’s house. My wife and I were staying with my sister.  We had a lot of fun in my brother’s house when Bernard came to fetch Angel.  Please see the photos below.

The church wedding was held at St Joseph’s Cathedral on June 26. This was the first time I have ever attended a wedding ceremony in a Catholic church so it was an eye-opener for me.

Bernard and Angel came back to my brother’s house in the afternoon and were served “mee sua” by Angel’s mum. This was followed by a tea ceremony.

The wedding dinner reception hosted by Bernard’s parents was held at Hilton Hotel. It was another joyful evening and the food was sumptuous.

I dedicate this poem by poet Christopher Robin to Angel and Bernard:

As you start out today, joined as one together

We wish your hearts soar, fly on Angel’s wings

Pleasure fulfilment, endless joy, contentment

As perfect a Marriage, that anyone yet so brings

May you find everyday, sweetly lying awaiting

All you’re dearest, sweetest; dreams yet come true

While sharing a lifetime jointly, forever on today

May endless happiness ever pursue the two of you

To the sweetest ever, very happy, perfect couple

Perfect wishes we relay, on your wedding day

May love happiness joy prosperity and harmony

Ever sweetly surround you both, forever we relay

I pray that God will shower the two of you with an abundance of blessings in all areas of your life. Yes, may you be blessed!

A little something to put things in perspective…

After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno’s damage.

One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother’s wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing  that the toxic smoke would rise.

She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast… because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live.

‘He will cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you will find refuge.’
(Psalm 91:4)

Being loved this much should make a difference in your life. Remember the One who loves you, and then be different because of it.

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen, totally forgot about it.

The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color and drank all the medicine in the bottle. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother rushed him to the hospital. He died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how she was going to face her husband. When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

Question: What were the five words ?

Scroll down to read….

The husband just said ‘I am with you darling’. The husband’s totally unexpected reaction is a proactive behavior. The child is dead. He can never be brought back to life. There is no point in finding fault with the mother. Besides, if only he had taken time to keep the bottle away, this would not have happened. No one is to be blamed. She had also lost her only child. What she needed at that moment was consolation, compassion and support from the husband. That was what he gave her.

If everyone can look at life with this kind of perspective, there would be much fewer problems in the world. ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’ Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears. And you will find things are actually not as difficult as you think.

If you think some of your local restaurants are wacky, take a look at these restaurants from around the world. It makes you wonder whether some of these restaurant owners have gone insane.  Some of the photos may be a bit offensive, so be warned!

Tree House Restaurant (New Zealand):

This unusual restaurant started life as an ad campaign for Yellow, a New Zealand company similar to the Yellow Pages. The idea was to build a restaurant in a tree using only resources listed in the company’s directories. The designer took pains to minimise the impact on the tree and the surrounding forest.

Pelican Bar (Jamaica South Coast):

The Pelican Bar is located on a sand bar off Jamaica’s South Coast. It is one of the most unique places in the world to witness a sunset. The Pelican Bar specializes in Red Stripe beer and local rum.

pic41

Bed Restaurant (Miami):

Bed Restaurant is the most relaxing dining spot in the city. Huge mattresses with mounds of pillows let you relax with a hot date or a small party, after you place your shoes in a cubby and put on Bed’s complimentary socks. The trance music and slow-motion videos projected on the screens attempt to soothe you, as do creative drinks like the blackberry julep, a new fresh-fruit take on the mint julep.

Military-Theme “Buns & Guns” Restaurant (Lebanon):

At Buns & Guns in Beirut, everything is military-themed – from the decor and names of the menu items to the helicopter sounds that play constantly in the background.

pic8

Hospital Themed Restaurant (Latvia):

This unique, weird restaurant in Riga, Latvia, is named “Hospitalis”. The restaurant look like a medicine cabinet while you are treated as a patient and taken good care of by the long-legged waitresses in nurses uniforms. The food is served in flasks and operating room’s dishes. This place is owned by local doctors.

Death Themed Restaurant (Ukraine):

This death-themed restaurant owned by a group of Ukranian undertakers is built inside a 65 feet long coffin. Inside you will find funeral wreaths, black shrouded walls and human sized coffins. Menu items include dishes with names like “Let’s Meet In Paradise”.

pic14

Modern Toilet Restaurant (Taiwan):

Taiwan has a chain of restaurants called Modern Toilets where you sit on a toilet and eat from a toilet-shaped bowl. All seats in the diner are made from toilets, not chairs. Sinks, faucets and gender-coded “WC” signs appear throughout the restaurant.

Undersea Restaurant (Maldives):

The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is the first-ever transparent undersea restaurant in the world, sitting 5 meters below the sea level of the Indain Ocean and surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear acrylic offering diners 270 degrees of panoramic underwater views.

pic20

Alcatraz Restaurant ( Japan):

The prison-themed Alcatraz restaurant in Tokyo may be a long way from the US, but it’s pretty authentic. The restaurant’s ‘medical prison’ theme comes complete with handcuffs, fake injections by the ‘nurses’ and a menu consisting of ‘penis sausage’, ‘dead chicken’ and cocktails in test tubes – all taken in your very own cell.

pic24

Cannibalistic Sushi (Japan):

‘Nyotaimori’ in Japanese literally means ‘female body plate’, and this restaurant named after the tradition of eating sushi and sashimi off a nude woman’s body takes the concept to a whole new level. An edible body, with dough ‘skin’ and sauce ‘blood’ is wheeled into the room on a hospital gurney and placed upon a table. The hostess begins the meal by cutting into the body with a scalpel and then patrons dig in, operating on the body to reveal edible ‘organs’.

pic26

Pitch Black Restaurant (Beijing):

It’s often said that if you take away one or more of your senses, the remaining ones get stronger. That’s the idea behind Pitch Black, a Beijing restaurant where patrons eat in complete darkness. Illuminating devices like cell phones and watches are strictly forbidden, and it’s so dark you can’t see your hand in front of your face. Don’t think you can get away with any funny business, however – the waiters wear night-vision goggles.

pic27

Vampire Café (Japan):

Continuing the creepy, otherwordly themes is the Vampire Cafe in the Ginza section of Tokyo, where the interior is almost entirely blood red. Guests are ushered down a long hallway with red blood cells superimposed on the floor. Inside, the décor includes heavy velvet drapes, black coffins dripping with red candle wax, skulls and crosses. Many of the meals are vampire-themed, and diners drink red cocktails from martini glasses.

pic28

Sky Restaurant (Belgium):

This strange restaurant combines the delights of dining with the thrill of well, a thrill ride. You’ll travel 150 feet into the sky before you chow-down on a gourmet meal prepared mid-air. The restaurant uses a mobile crane to lift the entire 22-seat dining room over city streets all over Europe.

Two friends were on a journey in a desert. At some point in their journey, they had an argument and one friend slapped the other one in  the face.

The one who got  slapped felt hurt but without saying anything, he wrote on the sand:  “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”

They continued their journey until they came to an oasis where they decided to have a bathe.

The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started to drown but was saved by his friend.

After he recovered from the near drowning,  he wrote on a stone:  “Today my best friend saved my life.”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, ” After I had slapped you, you wrote in the sand and now you wrote on the stone. Why?”

The friend replied, “When someone hurts us we should write it in the sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it on stone so no wind can erase it.”

Learn to live this way and you will life to be more fulfilling and meaningful. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate that person,  a day to love that person  but an entire life to forget that person.

A disappointed salesman of Coca Cola returned from his Middle East assignment.

A friend asked,”Why weren’t you successful with the Arabs?”

The salesman explained,”When I got posted to the middle-east, I was very confident that I would make a good sales pitch as Cola is virtually unknown there. But I had a big handicap as I didn’t know how to speak Arabic. So I planned to convey the message through three posters placed side by side.”

cid:F45208836C08423CBE602774FCA071C4@scleexpcid:1A18AA88D71E423BB9A2F35D86E0479A@scleexpcid:87D661145D824461A4A1DBBA88E835B1@scleexp

First poster: A man lying in the hot desert sand…totally exhausted and fainting.
Second poster:  The man is drinking our Cola.

Third poster: Our man is now totally refreshed.

And then these posters were pasted side by side all over the place
.

“Then that should have worked!” said the friend.

“The hell it should had!” said the salesman. “I didn’t realize that Arabs read from right to left”

Today is Gawai and I am starting my new blog about work from home income streams. Over the past couple of years, I have done a lot of research on work from home income opportunities, in particular the online ones. I have done well in some of the online opportunities but I have also fell victim to some scams. The internet is like a minefield filled with all sorts of scams. You can really lose your shirt if you fall in love with a program that turns out to be a scam. With my past few years’ experience, I am now able to better identify the genuine programs from the scams. I will be sharing my experience and my research on this new blog of mine.

A lot of people dream of working from home. Some of the top reasons are:

1. They do not want to have to drive and make a commute to their place of employment.  This is particularly true in big cities where traffic jams can be a daily nightmare.

2. They want to spend as much time with their family as possible.

3. They hate their bosses/managers/etc or they just hate their jobs.

4. They’re lazy. They dream of living a life of leisure, or they just want to make a living while doing a minimal amount of work.

5. They want to explore other areas of life they would never have time for with a job, or they have a passion that they never have time for.

6. They enjoy not having to wear some fancy (or ugly) uniform while they work. They’re free to work in their underwear if they please, or they don’t have to wear anything period while they work.

7. They never have to feel like somebody is watching them while they work. They can fool around, listen to music, look up non-work related sites on the internet, or anything else that would be frowned upon in the work place.

8. They can eat whatever they want, whenever they want. No more being limited to short tea breaks, no more cafeteria food .

9. No more obnoxious, weird co-workers.

10. You are your own boss. You’re not making some CEO or whoever richer while being underpaid.

I will be posting articles on topics like eBay, domain processing, blogging, Google Adsense, affiliate marketing, paid to surf programs, high yield investment programs or HYIPs in short, sports arbitrage, online investments and forex trading.

My new blog is : http://workfromhomeincomestreams.com

You’re most welcome to drop by. See ya!
