The pendulum-style swing was made from 150ft of rope which was looped around an overhang. The swing itself was anchored by five different ropes. Stringent safety checks, including a test-run with a bag of rocks attached to the swing, were carried out before anyone jumped.

Devin and his team are no strangers to stunts – their previous efforts include the Human Slingshot Slip and Slide which shows them being flung into a lake, a 35ft bike jump and crazy water jetpack antics.

The death-defying antics were filmed over two days and even involved a marriage proposal. After one woman completed her ride, her boyfriend dropped down to dangle by her side and propose. Happily, she said ‘yes’.

Watch the amazing video of adrenalin junkies taking the plunge on world’s largest rope swing, Hey, even the rock seems surprised!

Shanghai-based Malaysian Hong Yi has just released photos and a video of her Jay Chou portrait done using coffee cup stains!

Hong Yi's Jay Chou coffee stain portrait

26-year-old Hong Yi, nicknamed Red, spent 12 hours to complete the Jay Chou coffee stain portrait in Shanghai on Valentine’s Day. She was inspired by the opening line of Jay Chou’s song “Secret” (Bu Neng Shuo De Mi Mi 不能说的秘密) about lifting up a coffee cup off the saucer. She described the coffee in the song is cold (“冷咖啡离开了杯垫”) because the main character has been thinking too much about the past.

The ending of the song is about autumn leaves and fragmented pieces (“飘落后才发现 这幸福的碎片, 要我怎么捡?”). This is shown through the portrait as a whole – how it’s formed by many individual rings, many of them broken and imperfect like fallen autumn leaves, forming Jay Chou’s portrait.

'Red' working on her portrait of Jay Chou

The story of the song is about Jay Chou traveling back 20 years in time and meeting a girl. Jay disappears one day, and the girl only has a memory of how he looks like, so she sketches his portrait out. Hong Yi’s painting is meant to look like a sepia-toned old photograph to capture the essence of this story.

What would you do if your daughter posts a very disrespectful rant about you on Facebook?

A 15-year-old girl from North Carolina found out the hard way that it does not pay to talk bad about your parents after her dad read her Facebook rant. She was taught a very public lesson that she would never forget.

The miffed dad, Tommy Jordan, recorded a video of himself reading out her daughter’s rant from a computer print-out before shooting her laptop. The video , entitled “Facebook Parenting: For the troubled teen”, has gone viral, attracting almost 21 million views since it was uploaded on YouTube 5 days ago.

Tommy Jordan, of Albemarle, North Carolina, reads out his 15-year-old daughter Hannah's grumbling Facebook post.

He shoots nine bullets into the computer, which he tells Hannah she will have to pay for as well.

In her Facebook post, Hannah, the 15-year-old daughter, whined about having to do chores and not getting the latest gadgets on Facebook. She also moaned about how difficult her parents made her life.

‘That right there is your laptop’, he says in a YouTube video, pointing a camera at a computer lying in a patch of dirt on the ground. ‘This right here is my .45,’ he says, moving a pistol into the frame.

He cocks the weapon and shoots nine rounds into the laptop.

It’s also aimed at all her friends on Facebook who thought that her little rebellious post was cute, and for all you parents out there who think your, you know, kids don’t post bad things on Facebook’.

Mr Jordan mocks his daughter for thinking her parents would not be able to see the post because of her Facebook privacy settings, ignoring the fact that he works in IT for a living.

In the post, Hannah says she should be paid for the chores she does around the home and attacks her parents for overworking her.

Mr Jordan laughs at this suggestion, pointing out what an easy life she gets in comparison to what he had to endure growing up. She moans about waking up at 5am and go to bed at 10pm.

Then after about seven minutes addressing the camera to berate Hannah, he stands up and blows holes through the laptop
He rounds off by saying: ‘Oh yeah and after that comment you made about your mom, your mom told me to be sure I put one in there for her. So…that one’s from her.’

‘Maybe a few kids can take something away from this,’ Mr Jordan writes in the video description.

‘If you’re so disrespectful to your parents and yourself as to post this kind of thing on Facebook, you’re deserving of some tough love. Today, my daughter is getting a dose of tough love.’

He said he found her hidden Facebook post while upgrading her computer. He completes his lesson by saying: ‘You can have a new laptop when you buy a new laptop and when you pay me back the $130 for the software I spent on yours.

‘I hope you’ve enjoyed your little fiasco on Facebook. I hope it was worth all this.’

Mr Jordan has since written on Facebook that the attention has helped him and his daughter ‘deal with it’ and insisted Hannah is fine, saying they both laughed about the video going viral.

But he admitted: ‘I’ll agree that wasn’t a good example of me as a father. I had been reading that post again and again for about an hour, sometimes in tears, other times so mad my hands were shaking.

‘I was trying very hard to be civil in my message,’ Mr Jordan said. ‘I slipped in that and said a word I shouldn’t have. I deserve a little backlash for that, no doubt.’

The following is a full transcript of what Hannah wrote in her Facebook post:

To my parents,

I’m not your damn slave. It’s not my responsibility to clean up your s**t. We have a cleaning lady for a reason. Her name is Linda, not Hannah.

If you want coffee, get off your ass and get it yourself. If you want a garden, shovel the fertiliser yourself, don’t sit back on your ass and watch me do it. If you walk in the house and get mud all over the floor that I just cleaned, be my guest, but clean it up after you are done getting s**t everywhere.

I’m tired of picking up after you. You tell me at least once a day that I need to get a job. You could just pay me for all the s**t that I do around the house. Every day when I get home from school, I have to do dishes, clean the counter tops, all the floors, make all the beds, do the laundry and get the trash. I’m not even going to mention all the work I do around your clinic.

And if I don’t do all that every day, I get grounded. Do you know how hard it is to keep up with chores and schoolwork? It’s freaking crazy.

I go to sleep at 10 o’clock every night because I am too tired to stay up any longer and do anything else. I have to get up at five in the morning, to get ready for school. On the weekends, I have to sleep with my door locked so my little brother won’t come get me up at six.

I’m tired of this bulls**t. Next time I have to pour a cup of coffee, I’m going to flip s**t. I have no idea how I have a life. I’m going to hate to see the day when you get too old to wipe your ass and you call me, asking for help. I won’t be there.

If the name Jeremy Lin does not ring any bell, you really need to emerge from the coconut shell you’ve been living under.

Buried deep on the bench a little more than a week ago, 23-year-old Lin was recently called up to start in the absence of marquee players Carmelo Anthony (groin injury) and Amare Stoudemire (bereavement leave).

In his first four games as a starter, Lin has propelled the Knicks to four straight victories with point totals of 25, 28, 23 and 38 against the Nets, Jazz, Wizards and the Lakers. His incredible feat has raised him from obscurity to international stardom.

Jeremy Lin

In the game against the Lakers on Friday night, “Linsanity” outgunned Lakers legend Kobe Bryant (34 points), ending the mighty Lakers’ dominance of the Knicks as New York held off the Los Angeles Lakers. His two free throws with 52 seconds left amid booming “MVP! MVP!” chants stopped the Lakers’ final rally and allowed the undrafted Harvard product to pass Carmelo Anthony for the highest-scoring game by a Knicks player this season.

<img class=" wp-image-9469" title="Lin went head-to-head with Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant (Nathaniel S.
“I didn’t try to see this game as any different,” Lin said following his amazing performance, which also included 7 assists and two steals. “I just try to make sure that when I get there on the floor, I play as hard as I can and try to do everything I can to help the team win.

“The only thing we established tonight is four in a row. Now we try to go for five tomorrow. I’m not too worried about proving anything to anybody. As a team we’re growing and trying to build on the momentum.”

Kobe Bryant, who a day earlier said he didn’t know anything about what Lin had been accomplishing this week, also had nothing but praise for Lin following the Knicks-Lakers matchup.

“He has been phenomenal,” Bryant said. “We have watched some tape on him. We came up with a strategy that we thought would be effective, but he was knocking down his jump shot, penetrating and he got around our guards. …

“Players don’t usually come out of nowhere. If you can go back and take a look, his skill level was probably there from the beginning, but no one ever noticed. … It is a great story. It is a testament to perseverance and hard work. It is a good example to kids everywhere.”

<img class="size-full wp-image-9470" title="Lin skies for a reverse lay-up over Lakers big man Pau Gasol during the second half.
Jeremy Shu-How Lin (Chinese: 林書豪; pinyin: Lín Shūháo; born August 23, 1988) received no athletic scholarship offers out of high school and was undrafted out of college. The Harvard University graduate reached a partially guaranteed contract deal with his hometown Golden State Warriors. Lin is one of the few Asian Americans in NBA history, and the first American player in the league to be of Chinese or of Taiwanese descent.

Lin is the first player in over 50 years to make it to the NBA from Harvard. The last player was Ed Smith who also went to the New York Knicks in 1953.

Lin is the first player in the history of the Ivy League to record at least 1,450 points (1,483), 450 rebounds (487), 400 assists (406) and 200 steals (225). He graduated from Harvard with a degree in economics and a 3.1 grade-point average

The New York Knicks claimed Lin off waivers on December 27 to be a backup behind Toney Douglas and Mike Bibby after an injury to guard Iman Shumpert.

On February 4, 2012, Lin had 25 points, five rebounds, and seven assists—all career-highs—in a 99–92 Knicks victory over the New Jersey Nets. After the game, Knick coach Mike D’Antoni said Lin has a point-guard mentality and “a rhyme and a reason for what he is doing out there.” In the subsequent game against the Utah Jazz, Lin made his first career start. He had 28 points and eight assists. In a game against the Washington Wizards, Lin had 23 points and career-high 10 assists. It was his first double-double. On February 10, 2012, Lin scored a new career-high 38 points and had seven assists, leading the Knicks in their victory over the Los Angeles Lakers with a score of 92–85. He scored 89 points in his first three career starts, the most by any player since the merger between the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the NBA in 1976–77, according to ESPN Stats & Information and the Elias Sports Bureau.

(Chris Chambers, Getty Images)

The Associated Press called Lin “the most surprising story in the NBA.” Bloomberg News wrote that Lin “has already become the most famous Asian American NBA player.”

Knicks fans developed nicknames for him along with a new lexicon inspired by his name, Lin. Time.com ran an article titled, “It’s Official: Linsanity Is for Real”. Hall of Fame player Magic Johnson said, “The excitement Lin has caused in Madison Square Garden, man, I hadn’t seen that in a long time.”

Linsanity

Lin’s high school coach, Peter Diepenbrock, said that people without meaning any harm assume since Lin is Asian that he is not a basketball player. The first time Lin went to a Pro-Am game in Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco, his coach said, someone there informed him: “Sorry, sir, there’s no volleyball here tonight. It’s basketball.” During Lin’s college career, fewer than 0.5% of men’s Division 1 basketball players were Asian-American.

Lin has regularly heard bigoted jeers at games such as “Wonton soup”, “Sweet and sour pork”, “Open your eyes!”, “Go back to China”, “Orchestra is on the other side of campus”, or pseudo-Chinese gibberish. Lin says this occurred at most if not all Ivy League gyms. He does not react to it. “I expect it, I’m used to it, it is what it is,” says Lin. The heckling came mostly from opposing fans and not as much from players.

Lin was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Palo Alto, California. His parents, Gie-Ming and Shirley, emigrated from Taiwan to the United States in the mid-1970s. They are both 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 m) tall. His paternal family comes from Beidou, Changhua in Taiwan; while his maternal grandmother is from Pinghu, Zhejiang in today’s China. He has an older brother, Josh, and a younger brother, Joseph. Gie-Ming taught his sons to play basketball at the local YMCA.

Jeremy Lin and his family after a High School basketball game

Lin grew up in a devout Christian family and would one day like to be a pastor who can head up non-profit organizations, either home or abroad. He is a regular churchgoer and when asked of his favorite Christian music he replied, “Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Shane &Shane and Mercy me.”

He has also talked of working in inner-city communities to help with underprivileged children. Lin also has a YouTube account, and has made videos with YouTube personalities Nigahiga and KevJumba.

In a video interview conducted by Elie Seckbach, he asked Lin how it felt to be representing so many people. Lin responded by stating, “It’s humbling, a privilege, and a honor. I’m really proud of being Chinese, I’m really proud of my parents being from Taiwan. I just thank God for the opportunity.”

There are a few new terms that have come to the forefront since February started: “Legend In New York” , “All I Do Is LIN LIN LIN” and Linsanity.

Filmmaker and longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee is giving Lin nicknames, “rattling off new handles for Lin, slam poetry style.” Spike Lee tweeted after the Knicks-Lakers game: “Jeremy ‘Kobe Wuz Smokin’ But I Wasn’t Joke-’Lin. Tonight Was NO FLUKE. I Seen It Wit’ My Own 4 EYES. JLin Is LEGIT.NBA DEAL WITH IT.”

Magic Johnson is bowled over by the energy Lin is bringing back to MSG. And Mike D’Antoni, whose future with the Knicks seemed perilous even 10 days ago, is saying “I’m riding him like freaking Secretariat.”

Steve Novak, a former Dallas Mavericks player, “has dropped fountains of three-pointers” since Lin took over the PG position, and Iman Shumpert summed up what the world now knows about Lin: “Jeremy doesn’t need all this attention from everybody,” he said. “He’ll give you the clothes off his back. And that’s what makes him a rock star.”

Post-game from his career-high 38 points, seven assists and four rebounds, Lin’s comment was “I just give all the praise to God,” when asked about the game. He was quick and eloquent in sharing the victory with his teammates, just as he has done since all this started.

Jeremy Lin….a real star. And such a humble one.

Malaysian architect Hong Yi posted the video of herself creating a painting of Yao Ming using a basketball about 3 weeks ago. The video was featured by Gizmodo on its website on 25th Jan and quickly became viral, spreading to other online sites such as ABC, CBC, NBC, Hufftington Post,ESPN and NBA. The Taiwanese newspapers picked up the news, followed by the West Malaysian Chinese papers who gave her front page coverage. The Phoenix Channel in Hong Kong also posted the video.

Hong Yi goes by her arty nickname Red because in Chinese ‘Hong’ means red. She has always loved to draw, especially cartoons, and even when she was studying architecture, her secret ambition was to work for Pixar. She has been attached to the Shanghai branch of Australia’s largest architecture firm since last year.

William Hung is undeniably the most memorable “American Idol” reject. So what has Hung been up to since leaving the show?

William James Hung Hing Cheong (Traditional Chinese: 孔慶翔, Simplified Chinese: 孔庆翔,; born January 13, 1983), commonly known as William Hung, gained fame in early 2004 as a result of his off-key audition performance of Ricky Martin’s hit song “She Bangs” on the third season of “ American Idol.”

William Hung auditioning on American Idol

Originally from Sha Tin, Hong Kong, Hung moved to Camden, New Jersey in 1993 and graduated from the John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in Los Angeles. He was a student at University of California, Berkeley, and later dropped out to pursue his music career.

While studying civil engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, Hung auditioned for the third season of American Idol in San Francisco in September 2003. He was the final auditioner on the January 15, 2004, installment, the coup de grâce of an hour-long episode that showcased other would-be pop stars, mostly lacking in talent.

“I want to make music my living,” said Hung, before he started singing and dancing to Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs”. As judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul tried to restrain their laughter, judge Simon Cowell dismissed Hung’s performance, remarking “You can’t sing, you can’t dance, so what do you want me to say?”, to which Hung replied, “Um, I already gave my best, and I have no regrets at all.” Jackson and Abdul applauded his positive attitude, with Abdul remarking, “That’s the best attitude yet.” Hung’s response to Cowell’s criticism starkly contrasts with the often confrontational rejoinders of other contestants. Hung added, “…you know, I have no professional training of singing and dancing,” eliciting mock surprise from Cowell, who replied, “No? Well this is the surprise of the century.” Hung was not admitted through to the next round.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Hung’s “She Bangs” audition went instantly viral and he gained a cult following. He incredibly ended up with a major record deal. He even ended up selling more records than some legitimate singers from “Idol,” as his first album, Inspiration, actually shifted almost 200,000 units (please note that’s 50,000 more copies than Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze’s post-”Idol” album sold). William has since released two more albums, starred in commercials, and acted in two Hong Kong films

A William Hung fan site, set up by realtor Don Chin and his wife Laura, recorded over four million hits within its first week. Hung subsequently appeared on several television programs including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Entertainment Tonight, The George Lopez Show, The Late Show With David Letterman, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, The Howard Stern Radio Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dateline NBC, Arrested Development and CBS’s The Early Show.

William Hung

Hung was featured in several national magazines and newspapers; he was parodied on Saturday Night Live and appeared on Celebrity Deathmatch.

Remixes of Hung’s audition performance topped song request lists at a number of radio stations. An online petition to get Hung back to American Idol included more than 100,000 signatures by late February. Hung was brought back to American Idol as part of a mid-season special titled Uncut, Uncensored and Untalented, airing March 1, 2004. The special documented what it was like to experience the audition process and, in Hung’s case, emerge as an inadvertent celebrity. Hung was crowned the Artichoke King of 2006 in Castroville, California’s Artichoke Festival; an honor previously bestowed on Marilyn Monroe.

It is most interesting to note that Hung is now working for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department as a technical crime analyst.

“My passion has always been math. It just took a while to end up as my career,” Hung told the L.A. Weekly.

But while William may be giving up his musical crimes to focus on actual ones, his “Idol” legacy remains intact. In fact, the L.A. Weekly just put him at number one on its top 20 list of all-time musicians.

“He is the greatest musician of all time because he epitomizes our highs, our lows, and our struggles to make ourselves heard,” wrote journalist Ben Westhoff, insanely.

Hung apparently still bangs after all these years.

The video of Australian Mick Tippett quizzing his adorable young daughter Maddie is truly hilarious.

The adorable Maddie

When Mick first poses the question, Maddie blurts out ‘Mum’ before Mick can even give her both the options.

Then Mick calls for a recess and tries “bribing” her with something to eat.

After the recess, Mick asks Maddie to repeatedly says “Dad” five times before asking her again about her favourite parent hoping to catch Maddie off guard. But Maddie still replies ‘Mum’, causing an exasperated sigh from her father.

Mick then tries to trick her by asking her who her least favourite parent is, but the little girl is not fooled.

Enjoy the video:

She’s the internet sensation whose debut song Video Games is already the ‘Single Of The Year’ pre-release, having attracted almost 17 million views on YouTube. Her first UK concert in November sold out in about 30 seconds.

Lana Del Rey

Her husky voice makes her the “It” girl of 2012. She calls her shtick “Lolita in the hood” or “the gangster Nancy Sinatra”. Music bloggers agree almost unanimously: the voice, lyrics, arrangements, melody – it’s all there.

25-year-old Lana Del Rey, real name Elizabeth Grant or Lizzy Grant, was born on June 21, 1986 in New York City and grew up in Lake Placid, New York. When she was fifteen, she left Lake Placid to go to boarding school in Connecticut. She is the daughter of domain investor and millionaire Rob Grant.

Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant

Grant’s management chose her stage name, “I wanted to be a band but the label I was with and the team I had around me absolutely wanted me to be a solo artist. Lana Del Rey came from a series of managers and lawyers over the last 5 years who wanted a name that they thought better fit the sound of the music.”

Del Rey tried to make it as a mainstream artist with the release of an album titled “Lana Del Rey” in January 2010. It was the singer’s first professionally produced album, released under Lizzy Grant on an independent label with producer David Kahne. Del Rey stated that “David asked to work with me only a day after he got my demo. He is known as a producer with a lot of integrity and who had an interest in making music that wasn’t just pop.”

Her father, Robert Grant, helped with the marketing of the album, which was available for purchase on iTunes for a brief period before being withdrawn for unknown reasons.

In June 2011, Del Rey was signed with Stranger Records, to release her debut single “Video Games”; in October 2011, she was signed with Interscope Records.

The song Video Games put the 25-year-old American singer into the public eye. Her YouTube video for the song is heavy with nostalgia, filmed like a home movie with stills from old films, classic motorbikes, skateboards and 50s fashion.

Lan is scheduled to release her debut album Born To Die in January 2012. The second single and title track “Born to Die”, a string-laden torch song oozing with high drama, is set for release on January 22, 2012. The music video for it leaked on December 14, 2011, and was based on a concept created by the singer, under the direction of Yoann Lemoine. The music video received generally favorable reviews from contemporary critics and has received more than 9 million views on YouTube.

Click here to view the embedded video.

More tracks from Lana’s highly anticipated album Born to Die have hit the web – National Anthem and the infectiously poppy This Is What Makes Us Girls .

Lana cites Britney Spears, Elvis Presley and Kurt Cobain as her musical influences and her music has been described as “cinematic dark pop” by thedailytransmission.com.

In Apple’s new campaign advertising its iPhone 4S, an adorable little girl was the star. Two months later, the same little girl is now the face of the South Korean company’s campaign for its Galaxy Tab.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The Samsung ad has aired only in Korea, making the copy-cat tactic particularly strange because there are no Koreans in the commercial.

The two tech giants spent the better part of 2011 warring over patents for their devices, with both companies suing each other to try to keep their rival’s products out of certain markets.

‘Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab TV ad feels a lot like an Apple iPad ad,’ the Apple-watching blog MacRumors said.

Samsung recently came out with an ad in the US that poked fun at iPhone users for having a slavish devotion to Apple. It offered the Samsung Galaxy S II as a better alternative.

I have a stressful day in the office today and to make matters worse, my gum which has been swollen for the last few days seem to have taken a turn for the worse. I had no choice but to see a dentist.

After dinner, I felt tired and stressed. I decided to look for some funny jokes online to cheer myself up. And I came across this “Lord Of The Ring” joke….had a hearty laugh and decided to share with you all.

Lord Of The Rings

An old, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young girl at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.

The old man and his young girlfriend

The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.

The old man said, “No, I’d like to see something more ‘special’.”

At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. “Here’s a stunning ring at only $40,000,” the jeweler said.

The young lady’s eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, “We’ll take it.”

The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated, “By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I’ll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I’ll pick the ring up Monday afternoon,” he said.

Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the old man. “There’s no money in that account,” he said.

“I know,” said the old man, “But let me tell you about my weekend!”
