Bollywood bombshell Katrina Kaif has been named the ‘Sexiest Asian Woman in the World’ for the third consecutive year, according to Eastern Eye.
The London-based weekly publication for British Asians put 26-year-old Katrina above Priyanka Chopra, who finished second, followed by Freida Pinto (third), Laila Rouass (fourth) and Kareena Kapoor (fifth).
The famous ex-girlfriend of Salman Khan said: “I’m very happy that I have made it to the top of Eastern Eye’s list again. England is of course a very special place to me and I think it’s very sweet to be voted the sexiest by them.”
The list was created on the basis of the most photographed women in the world and those most in-demand with film producers and fans.
“Although Bollywood heroines dominated the top 10, the list for 2010 included stunning beauty pageant winners, top actresses from around the world, popstars and TV personalities. That is why Katrina should be deservedly proud of her amazing win,” Eastern Eye showbiz editor Asjad Nazir said.
Katrina Kaif was born on July 16th 1984 in Hing Kong. She is one of eight siblings who are all girls. Her mother Suzanne Turquotte is British and her father Mohammed Kaif who is originally from Kashmir, India is now also a Britain citizen. Katrina’s parents divorced when she was very young.
Katrina Kaif was raised mostly in Hawaii and later moved to her mother’s home country.
Kaif began her modeling career at the age fourteen; her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London under a contract with the Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses such as La Senza and Arcadius, and even walked on the London Fashion Week.
She was discovered by London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad while she was modeling and she landed a role in the Bollywood film “Boom”, getting her first big break in the film industry.
After arriving in India she was flooded with modeling contracts due to her innocent looking face, hour glass figure and gorgeous look. She moved to Mumbai and was offered modeling assignments from companies like LG, Cola, Favicol and Lakme. Most of her early work was with photographer Atul Kasbekar.
Kaif’s performance in the 2009 “New York” with John Abraham earned her great reviews. Critic Taran Adarsh wrote, “Katrina gives you the biggest surprise. Known for her glamour roles, Katrina proves that she can deliver if the director and writer offer her a role of substance. She’s outstanding. In fact, people will see a new, different Katrina this time.”
