Who do you reckon will make it to the top 50 women on the Web? In this age of Google, the more you are searched, the higher you get on the list.

Lady Gaga (real name: Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) thus reigns supreme as the most popular woman on the web according to COED magazine.

This list has been compiled taking data and statistics from Google search-engine results, and COED Magazine has ranked them thanks to this data and statiustics.

At number two is Ke$ha (real name: Kesha Rose Sebert). The iconic Madonna (birth name: Louise Veronica Ciccone), age 52, remains a powerhouse in current pop culture at number three.

Every girl’s-crush Justin Bieber is placed at number seven on the list though he is not a woman. I guess his inclusion is part of COED’s sense of humor.

Who was the top-grossing actress of 2010? Give you a hint: You may have difficulty spelling her name and you’ll have to go down the rabbit hole to find out.

Canberra-born actress Mia Wasikowska, who played the title role in “Alice in Wonderland,” may be new to Hollywood, but she has come within a whisker of bumping Leonardo DiCaprio off as the world’s top box-office earner for 2010.

Mia Wasikowska

Forbes magazine unveiled its Hollywood box office kings and queens on Tuesday and 21-year-old Wasikowska tied for second place with Johnny Depp on the important list, leaving a who’s who of Tinseltown A-listers in her wake including Robert Downey Jr, Daniel “Harry Potter” Radcliffe and the stars from the Twilight films.

The list measures the actors who earned the most money at the box office this year. DiCaprio’s “Inception” made $1.1 billion at the global box office, while “Alice in Wonderland” made $1.03 billion.

Wasikowska also starred in the critically-acclaimed film “The Kids Are All Right,” with Annette Benning and Julianne Moore. That film, a critical darling and a likely Oscar winner, earned a respectable $29 million at the box office – a healthy return, since the film was made on just a $4 million dollar budget, Forbes notes.

Forbes described Wasikowska as the “big surprise on our list”.

“Wasikowska was lucky enough to star as Alice in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. And while there’s no way she was the primary driver of ticket sales for the film (co-star Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton were much bigger draws), she did appear in almost every scene of the film, and can’t be fairly dismissed,” Forbes declared.

Alice in Wonderland was the second-highest grossing film of 2010 with $US1.03 billion ($A1.04 billion) in global box office takings, just behind Toy Story 3.

Depp should have been alone in second place, but his much-hyped new movie with Angelina Jolie, The Tourist, was a major disappointment at the box office leaving him tied with the Aussie actress.

In fourth position was Downey Jr with $US808 million in takings for ‘Iron Man 2’ and the comedy ‘Due Date’ while Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,’ which only opened a month ago, but has collected $US780 million, is fifth.

Another young Brit, Robert Pattinson, came in sixth with $US749 million for his Twilight films and the $US56 million tear jerker ‘Remember Me,’ which push his Twilight co-star and rumoured real-life love, Kristen Stewart, into seventh with $US698 million. Stewart also played Joan Jett in “The Runaways.”

While critics hated Sam Worthington’s 3-D Clash of the Titans re-make, audiences still paid up $US494 million in tickets to see the film, giving the Aussie eighth spot.

Will Smith is notably absent on this year’s Forbes list, but his 12-year-old son Jaden, however, took ninth position with $US359 million for The Karate Kid re-make. His veteran co-star in the film, Jackie Chan, playing the Mr Miyagi character, shared ninth spot with the youngster.

In compiling its list, Forbes did not include animated films, although Toy Story 3 and others were some of the top-earning of the year. Forbes concluded the stars are not really the big draw for the animated films.

Here are the top 10 actors that made it to Forbes list of highest-grossing movie stars in 2010:

1. Leonardo DiCaprio, $1.1 billion (“Shutter Island,” “Inception”)

A  contestant in one of Germany’s most popular TV shows, “Wetten, dass…?” (“You want a bet?” or “Wanna Bet?”), is in intensive care with serious spine injuries on Sunday after a stunt watched by millions of viewers went horribly wrong.

The prime-time evening show, a national institution, is a variety program on public channel ZDF that often carries crazy things performed by members of the public, interspersed with musical acts and celebrity chat, and regularly attracts some 10 million viewers.

The German prime-time show, which regularly attracts 10 million viewers, is based on ordinary people performing strange things. This contestant said she could hula-hoop with a truck tire.

The show, which is broadcast live, also features world-famous celebrities. In the past, these have included the likes of Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Bill Gates and Mikhail Gorbachev. The stars also make bets on whether the competitors can do what they say.

Samuel Koch, a 23-year-old drama student and part-time stunt man from the town of Efringen-Kirchen in the state of Baden-Württemberg, attempted to jump lengthways over a moving car wearing spring-loaded stilts when he hit the windshield, flipped over the vehicle, and landed face-down, flat-out on the stage. His own father was driving the Audi vehicle.

The show was abandoned for the first time in its 29-year history as Koch was rushed to a hospital in Düsseldorf where Koch was put into a medically-induced coma while doctors operated on him for two and a half hours for a severe spinal injury.

Commentators blamed the battle for ratings, which has caused television shows to go further and become more dangerous than ever before, they say.

A media policy spokesperson from the Green Party said that the television producers’ sense of responsibility should not be forgotten in the fight for better ratings. Hannelore Kraft, the governor of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, who had been in the studio audience, said she had been shocked and expressed her sympathy for Koch’s family.

The host of the show, Thomas Gottschalk, denied accusations that Koch’s bet had been too dangerous. “We have always had risky bets, whether they involved motorcycles or ski jumps. It is part of the show,” Gottschalk told the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung. “If we had gotten the impression that he was over-reaching himself with his bet, we would have protected him from himself — as we have done with other candidates in the past.” Gottschalk added that it had been the hardest moment he had ever had to face as an entertainer.

German commentators praised the show’s makers for halting the broadcast and contemplated whether the program had a future. Commentators also lamented the fact that the battle for prime-time ratings on the weekend may have been partially responsible for the tragic accident.

The show's producers were praised for halting the broadcast.

The show’s host, Thomas Gottschalk, was interviewed live on the late news on national television, defending the decision to let Koch attempt his stunt.

“In 29 years we have had lots of dangerous bets, young people climbing up walls and one young man who jumped over a house on a skateboard, and the worst we have ever had is a broken leg,” a solemn Gottschalk said.

“I ate with the young man (Koch) and I was reassured to see how much he was looking forward to the show, how motivated he was … I am so sorry that it ended like this.”

He added in another interview: “If I had had the impression that he wanted to do something that he wasn’t capable of I would have forbidden him from taking part.

“But I didn’t have this impression at any time.”

Tom Clifford, 36, could not find a woman to love him because of the way he looked, until he met Janine Walker.

Tom Clifford and Janine Walker

The pair, from Gloucestershire, Britain, had a whirlwind romance after meeting last month in October on Britain’s first dating agency for ugly people. After just four dates – and a mutual love of junk food and TV dinners – they got engaged this week.

The dating website, www.theuglybugball.com, was set up a year ago for the “aesthetically challenged”.

Janine does not mind the way he looks, and calls Tom her “handsome prince”. She has also decided that he is the one for her after four dates.

Tom, a carpet fitter, was quoted as saying: ‘I’ve been a joke to women for years because of the way I look. I always thought that I was too ugly to meet Mrs Right but my life changed when I met Janine. She’s beautiful and I love her in every possible way. I still can’t believe this happening.’

Tom had spotted Janine’s picture on the website and wrote her an email. It said: ‘Dear Janine, Just seen your beautiful face on The Ugly Bug Ball and would love to meet up. You live near me, so this shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve got a face that makes children cry but, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and I think you’ll love me too.’

Miss Walker, a shop assistant who lives with her parents, agreed to meet him, and the rest, as they say, is history.

She said: ‘I appreciate that Tom isn’t Brad Pitt, but then I’m no Angelina Jolie either. ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to me Tom’s the perfect, handsome prince.

Self–confessed “great personalities” Tom Clifford and Janine Walker have also accepted a free honeymoon to Borth, Wales, offered by the dating agency to celebrate their upcoming nuptials and are in the midst of planning an intimate wedding for friends and family near their homes in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire.

A spokesman for the site said: “This is our first engagement, and we are obviously delighted for them both.

“We offered them the trip to Borth because we have a company caravan there and wish them every success in the future.”

Chris De Burgh sang about a lady in red, Gene Wilder made a movie about it and female celebrities know the allure of red. And now a new study seems to back it up: When it comes to what color to wear to be sexier and more desirable to men, it’s red that does the trick.

Lady in red

Red is the color of love, sacrifice, sexuality, power, sin and passion. Red is one of those colors that reek of authority, beauty, passion and self-confidence.

Singapore actress Fann Wong

Red is the color things go when they are flushed with blood; and that’s associated with arousal, be it a “ooh la la”, the Angelina Jolie’s colossal carmined lips, or the engorged bottom of an in-heat baboon.

Angelina Jolie

Red has become accepted public shorthand for “ooh la la”. So a woman associated with the color red is regarded as more sexual; and men find women who are sexual sexy, presumably for the reason that they think they might want to have sex.

Petra Nemcova

Not only is a lady in red deemed more attractive, the study shows that it makes the men around her more attentive, flirtatious – and wanting to move closer.

Scarlett Johansson

“Red is an indicator of sexual receptivity,” said Andrew Elliot, a University of Rochester psychology professor and one of the authors of the study.

Liz Hurley

Elliot and his colleagues — Roger Feltman and Daniela Niesta Kayse — conducted two studies to show just how sexy red is. In one, they told 23 male undergraduates that they were about to participate in a study that would — clever cover — simulate an online chat with women, but in reality was a study about whether the men would ask a girl wearing a red shirt more intimate questions.

The men were told to look at a photo of the woman for five seconds. They were shown either a photo of a woman wearing a red shirt, or of one in a green shirt. The men were then given a folder brimming with 24 questions, and were instructed to choose five to ask the woman they’d seen in the photograph. The questions range from “Where are you from?” to “How could a guy get your attention at a bar?”

Bollywood's sexiest star Katrina Kaif

Guys who saw the woman in the red shirt asked predominantly more playful or flirtatious question.

Another Bollywood superstar and 1994 Miss World Aishwarya Rai

The second experiment, involving 22 college males, yielded similar results. They were shown the photos and told they would get the chance to speak to the woman when they went into a private room. The woman in the photo wore either a red or a blue shirt. Each of the men was told to grab one of two chairs and place it so that they would be sitting across from her when she arrived.

China's sexiest teacher Zhu Songhua

Those who had seen the photo in which the woman wore red placed their chair nearer to where they thought she was about to sit, wanting to be closer to her. The U.S. researchers believe the phenomenon has its roots in evolution, with red signalling a good mating opportunity.

Chinese actress Chen Hao

Chinese actress Li Bingbing

In the animal world, red often signals a female is at her most fertile. For example, female baboons and chimps redden conspicuously close to ovulation.

Red is an aphrodisiac,” said Elliot, whose study was published this month in the European Journal of Social Psychology.

Lena Fujii

Elliot’s colleague Niesta Kayser said: “Women would do well to wear a red shirt or dress when preparing for a date with a desirable man.”

Korean actress Han Chae Young

Korean actress Hyun Young

This is what scientists call stating the bleeding obvious. So ladies, if you are failing to catch the eye of the man of your dreams, slipping into a red dress could be the solution. If you don’t have any red in your wardrobe, what are you waiting for? Rush out to buy some now!
