The entire world seems to have been gripped by the royal wedding fever. Unless you are a hermit living in some mountain hide-away, you would know that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be walking down the aisle on April 29th, 2011 at the famous Westminster Abbey.

Ever since the royal couple announced their April 29 nuptials, merchandisers have been in overdrive creating everything from the usual china collectors’ items and t-shirts to weird and kinky stuff. The royal wedding frenzy has thus resulted in a glut of royal wedding memorabilia.

Royal wedding collectibles

There are the usual stuff like china ware, postcards, t-shirts, mugs, flags, ash trays, jigsaws, magnets, coins, stamps, and even food items like chocolates, pizza, donuts, roast dinners, cakes and whatnot.

In terms of popularity, the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981 broke all sorts of box office records in terms of sales of royal memorabilia.

The royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton could smash all previous royal memorabilia and merchandise sales figures thanks to the huge global excitement around the event and the opportunities to buy online. There was no eBay when Prince Charles and Lady Diana married in 1981.

To participate in the wedding of the decade, you can splurge on the wide choices of Prince William and Kate Middleton memorabilia.

Royal Wedding Collector’s Edition Condom

Crown Jewels Royal Wedding Condoms of Distinction

Like a royal wedding, intercourse with a loved one is an unforgettable occasion

The aptly-named Crown Jewels Condoms of Distinction has launched the “Royal Wedding Collector’s Edition” souvenir  condom to celebrate to commemorate Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding on April 29.

The contraceptives are sold in packs of three with a picture of the royal couple in front. The condoms have been described as “combining the strength of a prince with the yielding sensitivity of a princess-to-be.”

There has also been negative reactions to the condoms, with Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward saying that it was tasteless and hurtful.

‘Lie back and think of England’

“Like a Royal Wedding, intercourse with a loved one is an unforgettable occasion.” So say the folks at Crown Jewels, who advise their customers to “Lie back and think of England.”

If you purchase a box of the condoms and actually used them – as opposed to saving them as souvenirs – don’t be surprised if a new kind of prince or princess enters your life in say nine months or so.

Crowned Jewels “condoms of distinction” may promise a “union of pleasure and style,” but they also contain a disclaimer stating that they are “a novelty product and may not be suitable as a contraceptive or barrier against sexually transmitted diseases.”

“Royal Virility Performance” is a brew which touts itself as “a beer to stir the loins of newlywed princes, summon the ghosts of long gone princesses and cure the stammer of stuttering kings.”

The Scotland-based BrewDog Brewery’s web site says the artisanal pale ale is laced with an “herbal Viagra,” chocolate, horny goat weed and “a healthy dose of sarcasm.”

Royal Wedding Sick Bags

Lydia Leith poses for a photograph with some of her Royal wedding sick bags

British artist Lydia Leith from Carlisle has created a specially designed hand screen-printed “Royal Wedding Sick Bag”for those already sick of hearing about Prince William’s upcoming nuptials to Kate Middleton. Leith, 24, has already sold out of her first batch, available for Ł3 each.

Lydia, who now lives in Edinburgh and is a graduate from the city’s College of Art, admits she does not think it will be used as a sick bag.

Each bag features an illustration of Kate and Wills. Above their head hovers a regal crown and the words “Throne Up.” The bottom of the bag reads “Royal Wedding Sick Bag. Keep this handy on April 29th, 2011.”

“The bags are just a bit of fun, a sort of antidote to the hysteria surrounding the wedding,” Leith said. “I’m not an anti-monarchist in the slightest!

Royal Wedding Perfume

Here is a run-down of three of the perfumes dedicated to the royal wedding.

Roja Dove of Harrods Haute Parfumerie has commissioned Clive Christian to create a special luxurious set engraved with the initials of the betrothed. The crystal bottles are adorned with diamond solitaires and house an already existing perfume often advertized as being the most expensive one in the world, The No.1 Perfume. Only 1000 copies are reportedly released each year.

Harrods Haute Parfumerie

“Since this is Prince William’s great-great-great-great-grandmother’s chosen perfumery and No. 1 is inspired by the love of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the unique pair of perfumes will be an invisible connection between Prince William and Catherine and is an ideal way for them to pay homage to his royal ancestors on their wedding day.”

The set will be offered as a wedding present by Roja Dove through the royal house.

Floris, one of the oldest perfumeries extant in the world, established in 1730, have also insisted on paying homage to the momentous event. Simply called Wedding Bouquet, the perfume “has been created by drawing inspiration from the most popular Floris wedding fragrances from the past and introducing a modern twist using a white flower theme.”

Floris’ Wedding Bouquet

Grossmith of London have also taken the opportunity to re-create an ancient recipe used in 1893 to celebrate the betrothal and wedding of “a Princess who became Queen of England,” i.e., Queen Mary who married King George V. The floral bouquet is said to be “perfect for a modern princess.”

Grossman’s Betrothal

Outside of Great-Britain, German perfumer Kim Weisswange of Capital Cosmetics claims she has been commissioned to craft a duo of perfumes for Kate and William called William and Catherine. The royal house denies the claim but apparently Weisswange is a nose with celebrities credentials since Madonna, Prince Charles and the Queen are reported to wear her fragrances.

Prince Harry & Kate Royal Wedding Mug

A souvenir company has come out with a Royal Wedding commemorative mug, but they put Prince Harry’s photo on it instead of Prince William’s.  There are suspicions that the company did it on purpose, as an elaborate spoof. Others have speculated they did it to sell more of the supposed “error” mugs.

Prince Harry & Kate Middleton mug

On the back, an inscription reads: “The fairytale romantic union of all the centuries. 29th April 2011.”

The mug, supposedly designed by a Chinese firm Guandong Enterprises, can be purchased for the princely sum of Ł9.99 plus postage and packaging.

However, the fact that the company is apparently registered in Britain has led some to suspect it is all an elaborate spoof.

The website promoting the mug reads: “Crafted in the finest bone china, it features an exquisite design of the happy couple with ornate gold detailing to honour this great moment in history.

“Please be our guests to own this esteemed, limited edition heirloom to celebrate with your work associates, friends, family and loved ones on 29th April 2011.”

The company adds: “You are welcome to purchase now to avoid disappointment and regret.”

To avoid confusion, the small print states that the mugs “are not supplied to, or approved by, Prince William of Wales, Catherine Middleton or any member of the Royal Family.”

It is rare to find a Rolex Submariner Ref 5510 diving watch on eBay and even rarer still to find one being sold by its original owner.

Having no prior knowledge of this is a highly-sought after timepiece, a retired Navy doctor ignited one of the most furious bidding wars on eBay over the past few months after he listed his 52 year-old diving watch for a 7-day auction on eBay at a starting price of $9.95. It was one of those eBay listings that antique dealers and horophiles dream of: A vintage Rolex Submariner dive watch, the kind that Sean Connery wore in the early Bond films. At the close of the auction, the watch sold for $66,100.

Bob with his watch...also in the photo is Superman Christopher Reeves.

“This is a one-owner watch,” wrote Bob, the retired neurosurgeon who listed it on eBay, “purchased by me at the Navy Exchange on Kwajalein Atoll in 1958.”

He continued: “It has served me well, but Father Time having caught up with me, I no longer dive. For the last several years it has been sitting in a dresser drawer, and now it’s time for somebody else to take it over … Now that I’m in my ninth decade, I’m downsizing and need to unload a lot of what are really just souvenirs. So here’s your chance to pick up a rare iconic timepiece.”

Bob bought the watch because he needed a dive watch, and wore it constantly for a decade or so. But in the mid-1960s, he started to wear it only “intermittently.” During the 1980s, the watch enjoyed a resurgence in Bob’s life, as he pursued his scuba diving hobby from his getaway home in the Bahamas.

Someone might have indeed scooped it up for a song, except that it started to draw the attention of the watch-collecting community. When Bob saw the bidding rise above $30,000, he was flabbergasted. “I thought it was a mistake!” he told the watch-enthusiast site, adding that only then did he ask his son for help researching the timepiece’s significance and value.

After speaking with his son, the two figured out that the watch was an extremely rare model that Sean Connery wore as James Bond in Dr. No, Goldfinger, and Thunderball. A bidding war in the final minutes of the auction was really exciting, with four cancelled bids dropping the price from over $60,000 back down to $31,000, only to have it re-climb to a final selling price of $66,100.

The story of the watch began 52 years ago, at a Navy Exchange on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It was here that Bob, then a young aviation medical student, spent what was likely the best $70 of his life (much to the chagrin of his wife). When asked why he chose this particular watch he replied, “I needed a dive watch and this was one of the few available,” as he recalled looking through multiple dive watches. Being an avid diver, the intention was simply to time air reserves on his dives.

Bob spoke fondly of his diving experiences both in Navy at the Marshall Islands as well from a home in the Bahamas, where he lived through the 80′s. Serving its purpose faithfully for over half a century (a testament to the caliber 1530 still ticking away inside), the watch has spent the last decade tucked inside a drawer.

What a great eBay story!

FIFA World Cup 2010 is finally over and Octopus Paul has really stolen the limelight from all the soccer stars. Despite being dismissed as pure fluke, Paul has defied all odds and achieved a 100% correct track record in his World Cup predictions. For the grand final, a lot of cynics worldwide bet their money against Paul and threw their support behind Netherlands based on their perceived superiority of Netherlands over Spain.

And Paul is having the last laugh now. Spain, Paul’s choice to win the world cup, beat Netherlands 1-0 through an extra time goal by Andres Iniesta in the 116th minute to win their first world cup title. What a heart-stopping game it has been! The photo below is taken from ESPN Soccernet.

Andres Iniesta celebrates his winning goal!

Those who have faithfully followed Paul’s predictions when they placed their bets are now grinning from ear to ear. What a bonanza world cup this has been for them!

Fans who had placed bets based on Paul's predictions are grinning like this dog now!

It is truly amazing that an octopus can pull off such a feat. I know it is probably just coincidence but the coincidence borders on eeriness. I would not be surprised at all if Paul is featured in a show like “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” in the near future. And Paul has put to rest the widely-held notion that a single person is too insignificant to make an impact in this world. An octopus can make such an impact in this world so humans should not seek refuge behind the excuse that they are too small to make an impact in this world.

Paul, thank you for livening up this World Cup and hope you will still be here to keep us entertained when the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup comes around. A backlash against you by incensed soccer fans will see many of your cousins ending up on dining tables as charred octopus, octopus ravioli, grilled octopus, octopus calamari and the like. But we are consoled by the knowledge that you will be well-protected at the Oberhausen Sea Life Aquarium. In case you really feel the need to migrate, Spain will welcome you with wide open arms.

This world cup will also be remembered for the vuvuzelas.  The popularity of the vuvuzelas resulted in brisk sales worldwide and many far-sighted sellers on Ebay saw sales of vuvuzelas shoot through the roof. I personally bought one yellow vuvuzela from an Ebay seller based in Hong Kong a couple of days ago but I will probably have to wait another week or longer before I can receive it. I am really curious as to how loud the horn can be. And it will be a great souvenir to remind me of this world cup in years to come.

A vuvuzela

There has been a lot of curiousity as to the origins of the vuvuzelas.  And someone sent me this email about the possible origins of this noisy horn.

Origin of the vuvuzela?

But I cannot see how the “vuvuzela” in this photo can be blown unless the man’s “little brother”  has some special power. To verify that, you would need to fly to Papua New Guinea.

It’s already 5.10am here in Malaysia. I have not slept any wink for the whole night but it has been worth it. I will catch up on my sleep in a few hours’ time. Have a great week!

As usual, I logged in to my eBay account a short while ago after brushing my teeth. It has become sort of a ritual for me every morning. But this morning I got a very pleasant surprise. eBay has granted me the status of Top-Rated Seller and the top-rated seller icon is now displayed next to my eBay user ID e-cybiz.

eBay awards this recognition only to a seller who consistently receives highest buyers’ ratings and has earned a track record of excellent service and very prompt shipping.  And it is based on feedbacks from customers.

Thank you eBay for your granting me this recognition. To all my eBay buyers, I wish to thank you all for your feedbacks and your support. This makes it all so worthwhile!

Today is Gawai and I am starting my new blog about work from home income streams. Over the past couple of years, I have done a lot of research on work from home income opportunities, in particular the online ones. I have done well in some of the online opportunities but I have also fell victim to some scams. The internet is like a minefield filled with all sorts of scams. You can really lose your shirt if you fall in love with a program that turns out to be a scam. With my past few years’ experience, I am now able to better identify the genuine programs from the scams. I will be sharing my experience and my research on this new blog of mine.

A lot of people dream of working from home. Some of the top reasons are:

1. They do not want to have to drive and make a commute to their place of employment.  This is particularly true in big cities where traffic jams can be a daily nightmare.

2. They want to spend as much time with their family as possible.

3. They hate their bosses/managers/etc or they just hate their jobs.

4. They’re lazy. They dream of living a life of leisure, or they just want to make a living while doing a minimal amount of work.

5. They want to explore other areas of life they would never have time for with a job, or they have a passion that they never have time for.

6. They enjoy not having to wear some fancy (or ugly) uniform while they work. They’re free to work in their underwear if they please, or they don’t have to wear anything period while they work.

7. They never have to feel like somebody is watching them while they work. They can fool around, listen to music, look up non-work related sites on the internet, or anything else that would be frowned upon in the work place.

8. They can eat whatever they want, whenever they want. No more being limited to short tea breaks, no more cafeteria food .

9. No more obnoxious, weird co-workers.

10. You are your own boss. You’re not making some CEO or whoever richer while being underpaid.

I will be posting articles on topics like eBay, domain processing, blogging, Google Adsense, affiliate marketing, paid to surf programs, high yield investment programs or HYIPs in short, sports arbitrage, online investments and forex trading.
