The seven-star hotel Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi is home to the world’s most expensive Christmas tree ever.
The 13-meter artificial fir Christmas tree sparkles in the hotels gold-leafed rotunda and is decorated with silver and gold bows, ball-shaped ornaments and small white lights. The tree cost only $10,000 but its whats dangling from the branches that make this beauty so pricey. Instead of traditional ornaments, the tree is decorated with 181 pieces of diamond, pearl, emerald necklaces, earrings, bracelets, watches, provided of Style Gallery, a local jeweler. Combined with its bejeweled accessories including necklaces, earrings and other jewelry created from the gems the tree prices out at a whopping $11 million.
The hotel is looking to get the tree recognized by the Guinness Book Of World Records as the worlds most expensively dressed Christmas tree.
“What we are trying to do is to give everybody who visits and everybody who is staying here the chance of to be part of something really special and unique,” Janet Abrahams said.
For Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel, where royalty and billionaires come for cappuccinos topped with gold flakes, the tree almost seems part of the furniture. It will remain on display until the end of the year.
