China’s popular actress and microblogging queen Yao Chen has more than 10 million followers on China’s microblogging site Sina Weibo. She has got more microblog followers than Ashton Kutcher’s Twitter.  With China’s huge population and an ever-increasing broadband penetration, Yao will soon outrank Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber as having the most microblogging followers.

Yao Chen crowned Yao as the “queen of microblog” when her microblog at  garnered more than five million followers in January. Her engagement with current world events, addressing social and political issues in Weibo, has won her the huge number of followers.

Yao Chen was born on 5 October 1979 in Shishi City, Quanzhou, Fujian province, China to a middle-class family. She first studied Chinese folk dance at the Beijing Dance Academy from 1993 to 1997, before moving on to study at the Beijing Film Academy from 1999 to 2003.

Her first stage appearance was as a white-collar heroine in A Story of Lala’s Promotion (2009). She has since appeared as Mango in Feng Xiaogang’s If You Are the One 2 (2010), in Chen Yili’s Colour Me Love (2010) and in Shang Jing’s My Own Swordsman (2011). She won the Golden Eagle Award for Best Actress in 2010.

The number of followers of her microblogging during this visit increased dramatically, won over by her sincere, fearless communication and her honest engagement with current world events. As she left Mae La she said, “I hope to spend part of every year with refugees.”

Christina Victoria Grimmie (born March 12, 1994), known on YouTube as zeldaxlove64, is a pianist, flautist and singer famed for her reworking of hit songs by artists such as Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.

Christina Grimmie

Grimmie, who also dabbles with guitar and drums, popped into national limelight when her videos began notching millions of views on YouTube. And she is currently the veritable queen of YouTube musicians, with 974,000 subscribers, an EP of original songs (called Find Me) available on iTunes, a single (“Advice”) getting airplay on Radio Disney, and a plum opening spot on Selena Gomez’s upcoming summer tour.

A high school senior this fall, the home-schooled Grimmie almost never joined the site at all.

“My friend convinced me to put a video up, when originally I did not want to,” the quirky 17 year-old said. “I did on July 17th, 2009.” That was the day that Grimmie posted a video of herself playing piano and singing “Don’t Wanna Be Torn” by Hannah Montana.

As she frequently posted new cover videos to her channel, zeldaxlove64, Grimmie developed a small online fanbase, and what started as a frivolous hobby quickly became a much bigger project. “More and more, I made it a routine to post videos, and now I’m doing pretty well for myself, I would say.”

She started by solidifying her status on YouTube. Grimmie continued to post videos of herself singing pop songs in her Sonic the Hedgehog-adorned bedroom, and as her pageviews went up, opportunities gradually presented themselves.

It just so happens that some of Christina’s videos ended up on the computer screen of Mandy Teefey, Selena Gomez’s mother. “Selena’s mom, she saw me singing ‘My Heart Will Go On‘ by Celine Dion, and then she saw the Miley Cyrus medley, and that led her to ask her husband Brian her to go out and find me.”

After getting in touch with Christina through her brother’s YouTube channel, Brian Teefey (Selena Gomez's step-father), met with Grimmie in May 2010 and became her manager.

Grimmie is best known for her video with Sam Tsui, covering Nelly's "Just a Dream", which has had over 30 million views. She had over 17 million views on her channel as of June 2011, which made her the 7th most subscribed musician on YouTube of all time at that point. She also was placed within the top 5 of the MyYoutube competition, along with Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber.

She released an EP, entitled Find Me, on June 14, 2011 which debuted at number 35 on the Billboard 200. Her first single 'Advice' was released to Radio Disney on June 11.

Christina Grimmie 'Find Me'

She will be touring with Selena Gomez & the Scene beginning July 28, 2011, where she will be promoting Find Me.

A glittering future seems to be awaiting this home-schooled girl!

Lady Gaga has been so wowed by the 10-year-old’s cover of her song that she posted a link to Aragon’s video on her Twitter page, saying: “Can’t stop crying watching this. This is why I make music. She is the future.”

Lady GaGa Born This Way

Lady Gaga has over 8 million twitter followers and a simple tweet from her is so powerful that Aragon’s video has become viral, notching up over 4 million views though it was only posted a few days ago.  By Friday, her video was in the most popular, top viewed and most viewed categories.

Aragon, a Filipino living in Winnipeg, Canada, is now on a first-name basis with the pop superstar — and has been invited by her idol to sing a duet on stage. She was surprised with a phone call from Lady Gaga on Friday afternoon.

“Hello, my gorgeous Maria,” said Lady Gaga.

The phone call was orchestrated by Toronto’s 99.9 Virgin Radio station.

“It’s actually really just amazing,” Aragon told reporters at local FM station Hot 103 after the phone call. “I even cried over the conversation because I didn’t expect for Lady Gaga to talk to me … It was really overwhelming and crazy.”

The Grade 5 student at Isaac Brock School received even more praise from the superstar on the telephone.

“When I saw you, so young and so beautiful singing those words so purely, it reminded me why I wrote this song in the first place and it reminded me why I make music,” Lady Gaga said.

When Gaga heard Aragon was coming to her concert in Toronto next month, she said they should perform a duet.

“Maybe you’re just gonna have to come on stage with me and sing that song. What do you think?” Lady Gaga said.

“That would be really cool,” Aragon said.

The youngster expressed an interest in singing, and has also covered songs by Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys and Michael Jackson.

She told the Winnipeg Free Press that she liked Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” because of the message it sent about self-confidence and appreciating an individual’s uniqueness.

Citing Lady Gaga as an example, she said: “She doesn’t bother about hearing what everybody else thinks. She just does what she does and she’s successful with it.”

Ellen Degeneres have also her interest in Aragon by tweeting “Thank Gaga I saw this.”

Maria Aragon….remember her name.  She could be the next Justin Bieber!

Maria Aragon began getting the rock star treatment on Thursday when she was taken by limousine to a downtown Winnipeg radio station.

We can always count on Lady Gaga for a shocking surprise and we certainly got one. No, she didn’t walk down the Grammy 2011 red carpet naked or dressed in another meat dress. She arrived in grand style in the wackiest “outfit” ever. She arrived at the Grammys in a gigantic egg like an avian Cleopatra carried by four men in yolk colored shorts and skirts along with a model alongside.

Inside the egg Gaga was donned in  a black oufit compete with an oxygen mask, air tank, and a cooling fan. It can get warm inside an egg.

On Twitter, Kelly Osbourne tweeted: “You will not believe your eyes when you see how @ladygaga showed up to the Grammys”.

Lady Gaga alluded to the egg earlier in the day on Twitter, when a staff member wrote: “This is Nicola, Haus of Gaga: Gaga is in incubation.”

Lady Gaga and her entourage paused momentarily to talk with Ryan Seacrest with Gaga’s “model nurse” doing all the talking about Gaga’s impending rebirth on-stage later in last night’s performance of Born This Way. All that was visible of Gaga during the interview was a mere shadow of the star squirming around inside the egg.

Lady Gaga’s dominance at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards saw her winning honors for Best Female, Best Song, and Best Pop just a year after taking the best new act prize.

The Sunday ceremony converted two of the Spanish capital’s most iconic landmarks into glittering venues from which to present its 2010 honors.

Tens of thousands of music fans crowded downtown Puerta de Alcala and Caja Magica to hear acts by Jared Leto and Shakira.

Lady Gaga was in Budapest, Hungary, for a concert and so accepted her awards via video link. On the third occasion she appeared to be wearing little more than a folded piece of plastic, enhancing her reputation for outlandish outfits.

“I wish so much that I could be there,” she said, before launching into a song for the MTV crowd in the Caja Magica venue in Madrid. “Get off my stage!” she shouted at the end.

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry went into the annual awards ceremony — one of pop music’s biggest nights outside the United States — leading the field with five nominations apiece.

Perry was also recognised, winning the Best Video category for “California Gurls.”

Both Americans, the singers underlined the dominance of U.S. music on the night even though most prizes were decided by a popular vote on MTV’s Europe Awards website.

Of the main winners, only one was not American. That was 16-year-old Canadian chart sensation Justin Bieber, who beat out the likes of Eminem and Kanye West to pick up the coveted Best Male Artist prize.

Colombian singer Shakira opened the show with British rapper Dizzee Rascal, and there were performances by acts including Kings of Leon, Kid Rock and Miley Cyrus.

Among the highlights was Barbadian star Rihanna, who sported red hair, a tiara and a short white wedding-style dress when she sang “Only Girl.”

Bon Jovi were the closing act, after the band picked up the inaugural Global Icon award.

“Thanks for making us icons,” Jon Bon Jovi told the cheering crowd. “I want to thank everyone at MTV for this unbelievable ride over a quarter of a century. We’re still doing what we do and we’re doing it well.”

According to MTV, the group has sold more than 125 million albums, performed over 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries to 35 million fans and were the number one touring act in 2008.

Rounding out the prizes were U.S. performers Ke$ha (Best New Act), Eminem (Best HipHop), Paramore (Best Alternative), Linkin Park (Best Live Act) and 30 Seconds to Mars (Best Rock).

“Hopefully I can inspire you guys to give the finger to the cynics,” Ke$ha told the screaming crowd.

“Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria hosted the event, and managed eight changes of costume, all designed by Victoria Beckham.

At one point she was joined on stage by last year’s host Perry, who tore at the shoulder straps of her successor’s black dress revealing a tight-fitting bodice.

Best Song — Lady Gaga for “Bad Romance”

Best Live Act — Linkin Park

Best European Act — Marco Mengoni

Best New Act — KE$HA

Best Female — Lady Gaga

Best Male — Justin Bieber

Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, has finally released the much anticipated music video for her debut infectious hit single “Whip My Hair.”

Willow Smith 's "Whip My Hair"

“Whip My Hair” will be listed in Willow’s upcoming first studio album as a lead single. The music video, filmed in Sylmar California, is directed by Ray Kay who has also helmed clips for Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Justin Bieber. It features some costume changes which show off Willow’s killer outfits

In the video, the pint-sized singer walks into a plain room full of people dressing in the same white outfit. The music is played, she gets playful with her wardrobe and some paint and joins guest stars ranging in age from 1 to 85 who, you guessed it, whip their hair back and forth for the cameras, spraying paint all over the place in the process.

The 9 year-old pint-sized  singer has so much talent and potential that she has already been compared to a young Michael Jackson. That is probably the biggest compliment for this young star who has already been hailed as a trendsetter.

Ms. Smith has starred in a number of movie roles, such as “I Am Legend,” “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl” and “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.”

Willow said she wants Lady GaGa for a duet. “Somebody I would really want to work with on a song would be Lady GaGa,” she gushed. “She is amazing! She’s just so amazing, she’s a free person. She’s a free girl, baby.”

She whips it – and whips it good!

Teen singer Greyson Chance finally met his idol Lady Gaga backstage at Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball concert at Oklahoma City on July 20 2010. It was a dream come true for the 12-year old internet sensation whose YouTube video of him performing Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi has been viewed more than 27 million times!

In his tweet with a photo of himself and Lady Gaga backstage, he gushed: “I met @LadyGaga! She was so kind, gave me some great advice and put on an amazing show!!”

Greyson Chance meets his idol Lady Gaga

On one of his appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Greyson received a surprise phone call from Lady Gaga who gave him the following advice: “Work really hard, and stay away from girls and be focused.”

Just weeks after Greyson’s debut, Ellen announced that she had started a record label, with Greyson as her first signing. “Greyson inspired me to start a record label called eleveneleven,” said the famous talk show host, “He is my first artist and we are making a record together.”

Greyson’s music teacher from Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond, Oklahoma, told Pop Eater earlier this year, “I have never seen anyone with his level or type of talent. We really hope he comes back to school for the rest of the year, but after this video, who knows what his future holds.”
