Taiwanese top model Shatina Chen Si Xuan has denied rumours she offered sex services for 100,000 yuan (US$15,200) every time she flies to Shanghai to work, according to the Taiwanese tabloid Apple Daily.
“I wouldn’t have to work so hard if I wanted to make this kind of money,” the furious 36-year-old was quoted as saying.
Shatina Chen, born on December 6 1974, is one of the Taiwan’s supermodels, a long-legged cat lover who likes baseball and running. At 176cm, Shatina Chen stands tall as one of the country’s top-earning models. It has been over a decade since Shatina Chen started modeling, but it wasn’t always her looks that got her noticed.
Chen Known as the “Galloping Antelope” at school on account of her long legs and athleticism, Chen won trophies on the track and on the softball field.
Chen matured into Taiwan’s top-earning fashion icon and is often known as Taiwan’s “Queen of the Catwalk” and “First Lady of Gorgeous Legs.” She is attached to Eelin Models and has modelled for Chanel, Gucci and Guess. She is reputed to have “the most beautiful legs in Taiwan”.
The Apple Daily also reported that model-turned-actress Sonia Sui said she did hear about some small talent agencies arranging for their models to attend drinking parties, or sleep with rich men for financial rewards.
In Mainland China, it is widely believed that the casting couch, rich backers and extraneous relationships are often more important to success than talent. Women aspiring to make it big showbiz circle are often subjected to exploitation and abuse.
