For all the wrong reasons, a teenage girl who goes by the web moniker “Adelyn Hosehbo” is currently trending right at the top of Google Search in Singapore.
Adelyn , the Gen Z Ah Lian, hit the limelight on Tuesday after boasting on Facebook about slapping her mother for nagging at her, prompting an outpouring of condemnation on sites like Twitter and Facebook. Many irate Singaporean tweeters have been calling on the girl to apologise to her mother.
Adelyn epitomizes the worst of the Gen Z, the generation born into a world where the Internet already existed.
This is the most romantic and dramatic marriage proposals I have ever seen. The video of a carefully planned marriage proposal by Matt Still involving a Hollywood-style movie trailer, popcorn and an entire movie theater has gone viral on YouTube, attracting almost 3 million views since it was uploaded 3 days ago on Monday.
Matt, of Atlanta, USA, had hired wedding photographer Michael Escobar to create the action-packed clip titled “Greatest Marriage Proposal Ever!” for his girlfriend Ginny Joiner.
Matt begins his elaborate proposal to Ginny by getting her brother to take her to the movie theater supposedly to watch Fast Five. After the trailer for “The Hangover 2” has been shown, Matt’s trailer appears on the screen.
Ginny wasn’t aware that her reaction to the upcoming trailer was being secretly filmed.
‘This better be good’ she mouthed to her brother before Matt’s trailer began.
Giiny begins to suspect that her boyfriend Matt is on the screen and her astonished reaction can be seen via a separate camera embedded in the YouTube trailer.
The trailer begins with a deep voiceover proclaiming: ‘A love story so true it couldn’t have been written.’
The camera then pans to a conversation between two men, but only their bottom halves can be seen.
The faces of Matt and Ginny's father are not revealed when the tralier starts.
‘There comes a time when every father lets his little girl go to another man who loves her as much as he does,’ says the deep voice.
‘I want to spend the rest of my life with her. She has my heart, she is my friend, my everything. ‘She is nothing like any woman I’ve ever met before. She’s everything I’ve wanted and more.
‘I didn’t even know what real love is, but she is showing me and teaching me every day.’
Matt then asks Ginny’s father for permission to pop the question in a Godfather-style scene that doesn’t reveal either of their faces and Ginny’s name is not used, leaving Ginny momentarily unaware of what is going on.
Ginny’s father accepts Matt’s request and the two shake hands before the camera pans up to reveal her father’s face in focus.
The camera pans up to reveal Ginny's father who is now embracing Matt
Matt’s trailer continues.
Matt then runs out of Ginny’s house and jumps into his car before speeding off to the movie theater. At the cinema, he pauses at the counter to buy a bucket of popcorn before taking a deep breath and going into the screening room in dramatic slow-motion footage to find Ginny.
Matt buys a bucket of popcorn before taking a deep breath and entering the screening room where Ginny is.
Ginny turns around in her seat to find Matt actually entering the theatre behind her, engagement ring in hand.
The camera switches to a camcorder as Matt gets down on one knee and pops the question.
Matt asks her to marry him, she says yes, an audience member says bravo, before the cinema erupts with applause and whoops.
Giiny says yes, an audience member says ‘bravo,’ and the cinema erupts with applause and whoops.
The house lights come on, and Ginny can see the theater is actually full of her family and friends.
You must be wondering why the trailer is titled “Making The Movies Jealous”. On their second date Matt said they were going to be making the movies jealous. Oh yes,Matt really makes lots of girls jealous too.
On their second date Matt had told Ginny they'd be making the movies jealous...he made every girl in the movie theatre jealous too
See back now and enjoy this amazing marriage proposal on YouTube.
But Matt, I am sorry to let you know that this is not the first proposal of its kind however. Todd Cavanaugh asked former Miss New York, Elisabeth Baldanza, to marry him in a dramatic movie trailer while the couple were at the theatre together. Watch that trailer now.
A 19-year-old Venezuelan attacking midfielder scores a Maradona-esque goal.
Venezuelan starlet Yohandry Orozco has shot to fame with an astonishing goal in an U20 World Cup qualifying match.
The 19-year-old picked up the ball from inside his own half and jinked past no less than seven opponents before blasting a long-range rocket into the top corner of the net.
The wonder goal, which has garnered almost 167,000 views on YouTube in two days, drew Venezuela level with Peru, and also earned the attacking midfielder comparisons to Diego Maradona’s stunning strike against England in the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals.
Orozco, who has already been capped by his country at senior level, currently plays for Venezuelan top-flight club Zulia. However, based on this piece of brilliant play, it seems like it won’t be long before he makes it to one of the world’s top leagues.
Susan Boyle’s second album, due for release in US on November 9 on the SYCO/Columbia Records label, has topped the US charts on pre-orders six weeks before its official release. The official UK release date is November 8.
The Gift is number one on Amazon’s US music chart just one day after being made available to order. Boyle’s album topped the chart, beating new releases from Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Neil Young and Taylor Swift.
Susan Boyle's second album "The Gift"
Amazon declared this “the season of Susan” and said the interest in the Britain’s Got Talent sensation was unprecedented. “She has done phenomenally well going to the top of the chart in the US based on one day of pre-orders alone and she’s racing up the charts in the UK as well,” an Amazon spokesperson said. “She has really captured the hearts of the nation, both here and in the States.”
Susan Boyle’s debut album, “I Dreamed A Dream”, was a 9 times platinum record-breaking debut in 2009 to become the largest global CD pre-order in history; it went on to sell nine million copies and was the biggest selling album of that year. Judging by the buzz around the singer’s new release, she may just top that.
The album features ten tracks including Christmas classics “The First Noel”, “Away In A Manger”, “O Holy Night”, “Make Me A Channel For Your Peace,” “Auld Lang Syne,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful,”alongside covers of pop hits such as Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”, Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” and Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over.”
The first single from the album is a cover of “Perfect Day”, a song originally written and performed by Lou Reed in 1972. SuBo was to perform “Perfect Day” on “America’s Got Talent” earlier this month but was prevented from singing it, leading to accusations that Lou Reed himself had refused her permission for the song. Representatives for Lou Reed said the song had been cleared for British television but not for the United States before the “America’s Got Talent” broadcast. Evidently SuBo and Lou Reed have buried the hatchet.
Susan launched an online talent competition called Susan’s Search to search for a duet partner where wannabe singers were invited to upload videos of themselves performing “Silent Night.” The competition was one of YouTube’s most successful, getting one entry every six minutes after its launch last July. Susan picked given ambulance medic, Amber Stassi, a shot at fame by selecting her for a duet on her forthcoming album. Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” presents the debut of Amber Stassi, singing a transcendent duet with Susan on “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
Susan said in a press release: “When making this album, I really wanted the songs to touch hearts. Music has always been a companion to me, particularly on special occasions. I wanted there to be a mix of songs that would flow with all our moods this holiday season. As much as the season is a time for reflection, it is also a time for fun and enjoyment with those closest to us.”
On another note, Susan Boyle recently moved into her new Ł300,000 house which she bought in March this year. The house is lovely, but modest by celebrity standards.
Susan Boyle's new house
It had been reported by Susan’s brother, Gerry Boyle, that she could not afford to furnish the home, as despite amassing Ł10,000,000 in royalties from the sale of her albums, the money was said to be “ring fenced” and Susan was reportedly living on just Ł500 per week.
With Christmas just three months away, Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” will be the perfect gift.
Watch your back, Jasmine Villegas. You’re now public enemy number one to a continent of Justin Bieber’s teenage female fans.
As first reported by TMZ, a Canadian tourist was walking by a Honda car on September 9 in Venice, California when he noticed his country’s most adorable import in the backseat and snapped a few pictures of Justin Bieber and Jasmine Villegas locked in a serious make-out session.
Justin Bieber & Jasmine Villegas
Justin Bieber & Jasmine Villegas
So just who is this Jasmine Villegas who crushed the dreams of millions of Bieber fans? Jasmine Marie Villegas (born December 7, 1993) is an American teen R&B and pop singer. She is of Filipino and Mexican heritage. Jasmine Villegas was seen earlier this year playing the romantic lead in Justin Bieber’s “Baby” music video. She is the opening act for Justin Bieber’s ongoing “My World 2.0” tour.
Jasmine Villegas made a name for herself, following in Justin’s path by singing covers of female pop and R&B songs and posting them to YouTube. The 16-year-old has been making her musical shuffle around to different producers, but finally she has signed with Sony Epic Records.
With her good looks, and obviously good connections, Jasmine V is ready to take over the music and acting world. She has been a part of many principal roles in television commercials as well as television shows, and music videos. In 2006 she finished shooting a pilot for a Disney sitcom House Broken, a spin-off from Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, starring Arwin, Brian Stepanek. She is also good friends with Paige Hurd and Small Change. She was also a former member of School Gyrls.
Jasmine V. has been building a strong fan base over the past few years engaging “The Jasminators” – as the fans call themselves– over the Internet. Her YouTube is updated weekly with new behind the scenes videos, live versions of cover song renditions and more. To date more than 20 million fans have viewed her YouTube page videos.
Prior to her Epic Records signing, Jasmine V. released a song “Serious” with an accompanying video that eventually led to the Sony label to take notice. She also speaks to fans daily via Twitter and has already been a trending topic on the social networking site numerous times.
Her youthful ambition and undeniable talent have taken Jasmine into other creative arenas. She has been featured in print advertisements for Target National, Mary Kate and Ashley, American Girl, Levi’s, Hilary Duff, Robinsons May, Macys, Mervyns, Girl Scouts, Sparklets Drinking Water, Kohls as well as principal roles in television commercials for Chevrolet, The Dog, Kellogs, Zellers, Marshalls, and McDonald’s. Jasmine has also made guest starring appearances on Disney’s “That’s So Raven,” Touchstone Pictures’ “My Wife and Kids” starring Damon Wayans, and she has also gone on to become Ms. Hawaiian Tropic and Ms. Royal Essence. She also has a reoccurring role on the ABC’s prime time show “The Nine”, and a guest role on the television series “Threat Matrix”. She has also been featured in Kanye West’s music video “Jesus Walks” and Frankie J.’s “How To Deal”.
Justin and Villegas are rumored to be dating … but they insist they are just “really cool friends.” But with the widely reported kissing episode, few would really believe them. Hearts of millions of teenage girls worldwide have now been crushed. It thus come as little surprise that a lot of scathing comments have been posted on Villegas’s YouTube videos. The wrath of teenage girls!
Yuto Miyazawa is a 10 year old Japanese child prodigy who has shaken rock and metal music lovers around the world. He was born on February 21, 2000 in Tokyo, Japan and currently lives there with his parents. In August 2008, he was named “The Youngest Professional Guitarist” by Guinness Book of World Records.
Child prodigy Yuto Miyazawa
Yuto Miyazawa has been playing guitar since the very tender age of three. Although he has had a few guitar lessons, the bulk of his expertise comes from truly wanting to play…all the time. Commonly, if he is’nt in school, he has a guitar in his hands. That love of guitar is quickly making Yuto the internet’s latest sensation, as his videos rack up views on YouTube and Vimeo, and his name is scattered across hundreds of forums and blogs. Yuto’s influences are apparent, as he is often seen playing his official Randy Rhoads edition polka-dot Gibson Flying V guitar, which dwarfs him. Along with Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads, Yuto is influenced by Eric Clapton, KISS and Metallica. His extraordinary talent started him on the road to fame in Japan a couple of years ago. But it was his appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in May 2009 that catapulted him to international fame. He stunned the audience with his performance of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train.” After the show, Ozzy Osbourne came on stage to give words of encouragement and awarded him a plaque framed in gold.
Since his discovery, Miyazawa has performed with numerous music legends over the past year including Ozzy Osbourne, G.E. Smith, Galactic, Les Paul and Deep Banana Blackout. He has appeared at Madison Square Garden, the famous B. B. King’s, Chris Noth and Steve Walter’s The Cutting Room, and Rodeo Bar in New York City. Yuto appeared on stage at Live BlizzCon 2009 with Ozzy Osbourne to play “Crazy Train” as the first encore performance.
In 2010, Yuto came back on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and played “ Paranoid.”
The enigmatic “U Smile 800% Slower” has become a sensation on the web. “U Smile,” the second single from Justin Bieber’s new album, was slowed down 800 percent and uploaded to the web by Nick Pittsinger, a 20-year-old aspiring music producer in Florida. The song’s trippy atmospherics have attracted more than 1.7 million plays online. You can listen to the 35-minute “U Smile 800% Slower” here.
“U Smile 800% Slower” is eight times as long as the original four-minute pop song , turning the high-pitched bleats of the pubescent signer into primal howls and cries that seem to linger forever. The song is reminiscent of late ’90s work from Icelandic singer Bjork, with Biebert’s voice heavily deconstructed and eerily intimate. This YouTube video is a watered-down version of the “U Smile 800% Slower”.
Compare this with the original “U Smile” which sounds much less memorable.
Most people may not be familiar with the name Shazrina Azman. Shazrina is the daughter of Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hashim, ranked the 11th richest person in Malaysia with an estimated net worth of US$600 million according to Forbes.
Azman Hashim....one of the richest Malaysians
But mention ‘Mizz Nina’ and recognition is instantaneous. Mizz Nina is the only female member of Teh Tarik Crew, one of the pioneer groups of hip-hop music in Malaysia. Her sultry and gorgeous looks constantly turn heads and command attention wherever she goes.
Starting at the tender age of only eight, and with the support of her family which appreciate artistic expression, Mizz Nina ventured into the world of hip hop music and has never looked back.
Gaining tutelage under vocal teacher Mark M. Echivarre from The Singing Shop in PJ, she quickly learned the ropes and moved onto underground hip hop gigs and college shows in 1996. In 1997 she formed First Born Troopz with Fiquetional, with whom she would later co-found the Malaysian hip hop group, the Teh Tarik Crew (TTC) in 1999. It was with TTC that her musical career truly took off, with two AIM nominations in 2002 for the group’s full-length album “How’s The Level?” and her own WOW FM radio show “WowVibe.”
Critical and popular acclaim poured in, with TTC being ranked as one of KLue Magazine’s best local groups. An advertising campaign for Ribena exposed Mizz Nina’s image and music to the public on an unprecedented level. By 2004, Mizz Nina had under her belt a modeling career, more radio shows (Spin and Urbanitez, on RedFM), and two more AIM nominations for Teh Tarik Crew’s “What’s Next?” album.
She went on a national Hotlink tour, and performed at such notable events as Rock The World and the Asian X-Games. Mizz Nina also expanded her repertoire to hosting, racking up engagements for Salem, Nike, KLue and Johnson & Johnson, culminating in a solo ad campaign for Johnson & Johnson and TV hosting gigs on 8TV’s Flava and Channel V.
Since then, Mizz Nina has become a force to be reckoned with in the local entertainment industry. Now also an alumni DJ at FlyFM, she has attained the post of Managing Director of The Singing Shop PJ, where her musical education began, as well as running her own recording studio. She’s also collaborated with many of Malaysia’s musical leading voices, such as Reshmonu and Vandal, lending her unique take on hip hop artistry.
On July 17 2010, Mizz Nina launched her debut solo album “What You Waiting For?” hot off the release of the single of the same title, featuring collaboration with American pop/R&B singer-song writer and producer Colby O’Donis. Recorded in both Malaysia and Los Angeles, the album has been one year in the making. Working with producers, arrangers and composer from California, the Netherlands, Singapore and Malaysia, Mizz Nina co-wrote most of the songs and self penned the track “Never Leave You Behind” on the album. Besides working with Colby O’Donis, vocal collaborators on the album include MC Dandee from Bangkok’s Thaitanium Entertainment, Noh from Hujan, Mawar Berduri from Ahli Fiqir, Teeflii and Grammy nominee Planet Asia. The album features 14 tracks, 5 of which are in the Malay language.
Mizz Nina's "What You Waiting For?" album
Colby, the Akon protégé rode the charts with his hit “What You Got’ featuring Akon and is a sought after collaborator featuring on Akon’s “Beautiful” and Lady Gaga’s “Just dance” which was a nominee for best dance recording at the 50th Grammy Awards.
Mizz Nina’s video for ‘What You Waiting For?’ which was directed by Scott McCullough and shot in Los Angeles, has already garnered almost 500,000 views on YouTube.
These days, you can’t seem to go a day without hearing ‘What You Waiting For?’ on the radio; the song’s infectious melody and beats–and guest appearance by Colby O’Donis–make it impossible to resist singing along. A slickly produced pop album mixed with a dope twist of hip hop, Mizz Nina’s long-awaited solo debut like a coming-out party that shows her true vocal flexibility in both English and Malay. There’s a great assimilation of genres too with hard-hitting rap on ‘Sri Kandi’ (with Ahli Fiqir’s Mawar Berduri), floetic rhymin’ on ‘Never Leave You Behind’, chilled out love on ‘Kurnia’ (with other half Noh from Hujan), cheeky boy-girl interaction on ‘Sometime’ (with Dandee from Bangkok’s Thaitainium) and bright-eyed soul on ‘Ping Pong’ (with Mode of Ruffedge).
She might not quite have the pipes of Mary J Blige, but her sexy Kelis-like, raspy voice is pleasant enough and easy on the ears. Something of a little Lauryn Hill, Mizz Nina has certainly proven herself with an album of brilliant recordings. It is a polished debut that will put her on the pedestal as Malaysia’s latest pop princess.
That’s Mizz Nina to you – make way. What you waiting for?
Jackie Evancho, a cute 10-year-old young blond girl from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, gave an amazing performance on America’s Got Talent, singing the aria “O Mio Babbino Caro” (Oh my dear papa) from the opera Gianni Schicchi. The judges loved her and she got a standing ovation. Jackie said that she wanted to prove to America that the best things come in small packages. And she has done just that!
I am a fan of Charlotte Church and watching Jackie Evancho sing immediately reminds me of Charlotte Church. Jackie said that she started singing when she was eight years old. Seriously, this little girl has immense talent.
The August 10 show featured acts that auditioned on You Tube for the opportunity to perform on the America’s Got Talent show with a chance to advance to the semi-finals. In fact, Jackie was the contestant who actually received the most votes on the You Tube competition, winning a trip to Orlando for her family. She was truly the gem of the show.
She may look like an average kid, but she has an amazing set of pipes. She is one of those weird children who sound like they’re 40 years old. Watching Jackie sing felt surreal. How could such an amazing, deep opera voice come out of a 10-year-old.
Will she win America’s Got Talent? Is she the next Charlotte Church? Hmmm….I think she’s got a good chance. Enjoy her rendition of “O Mio Babbino Caro.”
